Boredom
    #2757720 - 06/02/04 07:24 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

It always suprises me when people say they are bored. What could possibly be mundane about this world???

Most humans are too lazy or cannot be bothered to take time to find something worth doing.

Boredom is an illusion.. that is most conducive in an expectative mindset.

i only find it right to say you are bored if you are sitting in prison and are unable to leave that dull horrible cell. or are in class taking a fucking essay and noone else wants to chat or will allow you.

if you are forced into a plain sittuation you have the right to say you are bored. but if you are at a party for instance and can't get off your lazy ass to talk to somebody, then you are forcing yourself to feel like shit.

my mother is like this, she sits there, reading year old magazines and smoking ciggerettes.... the only way she could get rid of the boredom spell was drinking one beer SLOWLY at a time. "i'm tired" "i'm bored". god over and over. I used to tell her when i lived with her, "you remind me of a stoner, you can't remember anything in a 10 second period." people like this just want self-pity and can't find something to do, they want somebody to do it for them. thats so annoying and pathetic.

yeah, i can tolerate someone bluntly saying they are bored once but man, after whining about it i walk away usually. lol.

it only gets mundane when people put too much emphasis on their desires and aren't working to satisfy them.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

I only get bored at night, when I'm done working, and it's, like, 10 or 11 p.m., and I just want to screw around on the shroomery, and everyone's gone to bed. Then, I'm really bored, and all there is left to do is sleep.

But during the rest of the days, there's always something to do, you're right. Even when I have nothing to do, I will find something to do, whether it's educational or not. The world is huge.

Exactly! Boredom is the result of a mind that has become habituated to entertainment. It's like an addiction. We need our fix of some sort of distraction - "entertainment" - , or else we get the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms: "boredom".

Go through the orange yesterday

I watched intently for a while to both sides, infront of me and behind me.
I was impressed to learn there was another way to look... UP!
More impressive still was the fact that there were beautiful stars in this direction
Most amazing fact of all was the prospect of another direction when I was done with up. DOWN! Which, based on the feel through my toes would be a fine sandy beach!
