Really happy how the ornament turned out. Put it together before I had my first pins so super happy it worked.

That’s definitely a great clone candidate.
Idk if you did or not but just in case, always pull the stem apart don’t cut it in half.

Thick ones I like to break into 4 long quarters and the caps too. Makes stems and caps normal consumption sizes.

I just got my results from doing that this week. These are all in 66 qt tubs for perspective.
Spore to Agar Tub:

Good luck!

Is that because a scalpel will push contams in even if flame-sterilized?
Or do you mean cut it lengthwise, not across the stem?
Thank you.

Yeah when you cut through the skin it spreads whatever junk is on the stem into the tissue.
If you pinch the bottom of the stem it’ll pop and then you can pull it apart almost as clean as cutting it. It’s pretty cool actually.

Tearing the organism, especially for lettuce, doesn't break cells like a blade, it just separates them.

EDIT: a lot of people seemed interested, so I started a thread: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27575276/vc/1#27575276
A.K.A.
I saw you switched a while back to Tyvek for the holes on grain jars, and that filter discs were giving you contams. You still using Tyvek, and still like it?
I just ordered some filter discs with .2 micron pores.
A lot of filter discs advertised for mush cult (like many on Amazon) are .3 microns, Bod says on a thread that .3 is too big....That cult needs .2, or at largest .22 micron.
I'm just surprised Tyvek works. According to DuPont, the fibres are 0.5–10 μm. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyvek#Properties_of_Tyvek
Not sure if that means the pores are that size, I'm not even sure it has pores, since it's used for personal protection against viruses in hospitals, says it's useful to prevent COVID transmission, viruses are WAY smaller than bacteria and way smaller than .2 microns.
That sounds like it's better than the filter discs, and why would anyone pay for the filter discs.
Are you using special Tyvek, or just cutting the postal-type envelopes?
Do you seal it on with RTV sealant? Do you have to sand the lids?
Can you tell me which discs you ordered that didn't work?
I welcome input from anyone on this topic, too.
Thank you

I've been wondering about these lately....

Bought them from amazon and I think they claimed 0.2um, but I have a suspicion that it's inaccurate and they let in a small amount of bacteria

Damn I have those too and I think I've identified my source of contamination but I've been suspecting these in conjunction.
