lab bacteria in grain wash ??
    #27571054 - 12/06/21 07:00 AM (2 years, 5 months ago)

lab syrum lactic acid i use on my farms and my soils compost bokashi etc i spray coops and animals and drink it, it has a whole host of wonders eating bad bacterias,

would it be wise to think on my WBS presoak if i include a LAB syrum before the cook they would well eat possible contams that can resist the heat sterilisation ? they would die in the heat ofc but would they initialy help prep?

The heat does the job.

I cant see a reason to break away from what works.

I would keep grain spawn as sterile as possible and not worry about additive, but you can try doing that when you spawn to substrate.  Maybe pre-soak colonized grain, and spray prepped substrate with that stuff?

nah they have an can carry some good beneficials but i do believe they also aid decomposition and other soil loved fungis which we try to avoid,or so i thaught, but then faster decomposition rates done in cannabis there usign thses to aid nutrient delivery  so ? mushrooms also it could help ? as its all the soil food web n that .
so i could see that when you wash grain you are starting any fungis off as to kill them as some spores can surivie PC
well i just assumed some of those missed could be avoided soaking in EM before sterilising

to be honest I recently was thinking something similar myself, but not sure grain would benefit from it

However some people growing woodlovers are fermenting the wood chips for a short time before noc, basically a cold pasteurization of sorts, killing the aerobic bad guys with anaerobic conditions and rapid proliferation of anaerobic microbes. Then introducing a bunch of oxygen when the chip is drained, which in turn deactivates the anaerobes, theoretically leaving the substrate mostly clean

I thought by adding LAB or EM-1 / EM-A to the initial ferment, it would be more thorough and complete in a shorter time, and possibly inoculate the chip with some sort of microbiology that is more beneficial than what would have just been present on the chip or in the water natively. The whole point of it for soil remediation basically, just infused into chip

I may do some tests in the coming months however I don't have a woodlover clone so not sure any 'testing' would be anything actually valid. I have to go get some EM anyway for some other stuff

But yeah for the grain, I would stick to the trusty pressure cooker, can't see how LAB would make the situation better

all the best

nice addition,

main basic gin i see is that i see people quoting '' soak the grains overnight to soak up and activate any hidden spores within the grain so the PC can kill them if they ramin as a spore or seed they can likely survive PC we hope our mycelium come active and can consume anybefore this happens''

the lab with oxygen is a rich healthy bacteria solution i cultivate from my cow i milk, their gut bacteria is locto bascillus and amazing for ALL plants and animals ,
i use it as its an AMAZIN cleaner any dog shit dog wee cat piss stink dies, i spray my chicken coop and grounds and it keeps them smell free as the good consume the bad bacteria which is the smell,
i spray my compost and never have any odours,
it makes my ground rich in humus and i use it to grow plants,
when allpied to plants they double in size and yeilds, they have alot more resistants and i use it to CURE ROOT ROT .

now i also use this to speed up decomosition of organic compounds, it cleans better than disinfectants and is cleaner than a UV light on a scalpel in tests seen vs good and bad bacteras, kiling all doesnt work as the bad set in faster 1 dip in lacto bascillus and populated with good bacterias and that scalpel is cleaner for alot longer by 48hrs than a sterilised 1 thats comprimised the second exposed to air,

so my thaught is to inoculate my rye grain 1 alot get problems with but works best also, allow them to work for 2days to ferment with an airstone cause no oxygen = death to LAB similar to how i make my bacteria rich teas for plants and how i break down kelp etc for feeding,

doing this will start the decomposition of the grains and start the process of converting the rye to useable forms, (the main factor that takes time is the myceslium adjusting the grain to an eddible form)
so as the graisn now start to convert , i want to now rince and PC them to sterilise and kill everything good and bad i put in, and inoculate, the mushrooms get a headstart nature provised naturaly form LAB but same time is totaly clean of everything before they coem in,

OR

after lab works dont PC and inoculate the bacteria fight Trich and other bad organisums and help my good mycelum thrive in my plant pots, they keep my fungus clean and white in my pots, never get any green if i use LAB and if i see my straw tops moulding and green mulch i spray my LAB and it all goes back to white and gets agressive growth ...

so i can see 2 experiments LAB and PC and LAB no PC
