Ok, if I’m making shoeboxes and I mixup my grain spawn with some coco/verm then after I mix it up add a “top layer”
How long should I let this chill and colonize before I try to fruit it? I’m confused. Some say right away. When I do it right away I get like 7 mushrooms…never a nice canopy, never anything you could even call a canopy.
Do you guys think I’m not getting the coco wet enough? Ha ha
Idk? I’m getting frustrated. Lol
I run mostly shoeboxes and go straight to fruit, but like everything else with cult it’s all about dialing things in. I’d say I make my coir on the wetter side of field capacity too, sometimes they do dry out quick. I have very dry conditions so it might work differently for you but snapping one end of the lid and just resting the other in place works for me. I can spawn and leave it like that til harvest.
Tub in tub like munch said is the best though imo. It just takes up a little more space but having that climate inside a climate really helps especially in dry areas where there’s a lot of air movement from ac/heat.
Another thing I discovered with shoeboxes is that if you use a grocery bag for a liner and pull it over the sides instead of cutting it you can snap the lid on and it’ll restrict airflow a lot. I use that sometimes for slower stuff like PE that has a lot of exposed myc on the surface but takes a while to pin.

Positive pressure.... I have like a 99% success rate with a SAB I made by melting holes with a tuna can through. Seems unnecessary.

Positive pressure keeps spores, bugs, etc from entering the lab space through the door.

My oyster tunnels were always positively pressurized, made for quite the stormy environment when the spores dropped but I wouldn't have done it differently.
As p9 says the benefits for preventing garbage entering you workspace are definitely measurable in my opinion.

Yes, I mean it's not a necessity but neither is a flowhood, bactizapper, actual scalpel, petri dishes, the list goes on. You might as well say that because we can grow mushrooms with a presto, or many prestos, all other forms of autoclave...

You can do a lot with very little, but just because some equipment isn't always necessary doesn't invalidate their application under different circumstances.
I probably wouldn't have used positive pressure but it was required at the time and it's actually not a bad practice.
Eric Myers utilizes Positive pressure, so does earth angel mushrooms, and every lab within Canada that produces psilocybin mushrooms for Health Canada, just to name a few.
It's not necessary, much can be done with little, however as stated above that fact does not invalidate the utility or practicality of those pieces of equipment under different circumstances.

What happens if you have a supporter account and you've went over the limit of a standard account, then your supporter status ends? Are your pics deleted? What if you restart your supporter account down the road are they all still their?

Hey guys and gals! I haven’t been here in awhile. I haven’t messed around with any tech in years. I had some Burma spores laying around and thought it would be nice to have some for New Years. These are my 6 cakes PFTek . They look allright. Just been trying to dial in RH and FAE.

Looking good. Great way to ring in the new year.
Don’t over fan them. When I used sgfc back in the day I felt like the all the fanning and misting was more detrimental to pinning than just leaving it alone. I’m all about using humidity chambers for cakes now though. So easy to dial in and maintain surface condition.

Do those melt at room temperature with all the cocoa butter?
^^^ posting to see if it finally gets rid of this quote that's been stuck in my text box?..
Also though, what is the max temperature that psilocybin can tolerate without degrading/becoming inactive? I know it can go to 212F/100c since we can boil tea but I'm working on an edible idea that will reach higher temps

I made three pints off a T2 agar plate that I thought was clean. I saw nothing off with the jars so I put the fastest one to a shoebox while the other 2 finished up.
Got green in that box 7 days from spawn.
Here is the state of the remaining jars:

I wanted to G2G these but now I’m paranoid.
If you get a contamed jar off a multiple transfer dish, do you treat the others as potentially contaminated, or do you just assess each one individually and chalk the bad one up to technique or something else? The spawned jar that went bad looked just like these.

So where do endospores fit in with steamed spawn and substrates like soyhulls.? I thought they couldn't die under 250ish or whatever... ??

Does anyone know the temperature that 'deactivates' psilocybin? It's obviously greater than 212F since we can boil tea with no issues. I'm wanting to make some mushroom suckers/jolly ranchers but this requires temps up to 300F, which seems really high for the actives.
Any help would be appreciated. I don't really want to waste a couple ounces of dried fruit, but I guess if it's in the name of science I'll take one for the team

Good enough for me. Fry oil is usually ~325-350 if I remember correctly. I've got 3 or 4 ounces I was planning to compost anyway so I guess I'm more concerned about wasting my time than mushrooms lol. I'll run a small batch and post results in about a week

You could always add the shroom dust (I assume you plan on using) right before you pour the candy. I make hard candy with cannabis oil and add the oil at 245° then mold.
