Light tells the myc to pin, if you do not want them to pin DO NOT LET THEM SEE LIGHT.

Kinda knew someone would say that.  I read ALL the teks I could get my hands on and got confliciting info about this issue, thus, the poll....
PF Tek says, "Indirect light is all that is required."
The Shroomery's Simple Cubensis Growing Tek Guide does not mention light at all.
The Magic Mushroom Grower's Guide 3.2 Says place in a dark place.
There is more too, but Ill stop here, I think my point is made.

Myc needs 3 things to start pinning light, air exchange, and lack of substrate to colonize. Sometimes all that is needed is one or we wouldn't see "why are my jarsThree things are needed for pinning. Light, air exchange pinning before they are done posts" So why put them in light during incubation if there is no benefit from it?

FOR FRUITING

This is straight from the PF TEk on this site guys, Im not making this up....

INCUBATION OF INOCULATED JARS
After inoculation of the jars, tighten the lid bands and retape the needle holes. Place the jars in a safe place out of direct sunlight. Indirect light is all that is required. If the temperature is kept around 70 degrees, germination will begin within 3 to 5 days. Germinating spores appear as small white fuzzy spots, quickly growing and spreading with cottony white growth and strandy "rhizomorphs". Any room temperature is O.K. If it gets cold indoors, over head light shinning down on the tops of the jars is a perfect heating technique for this culturing stage. A clamping type light with a reflector works well for this. If this is done, keep the temperature around 70 degrees (don't overheat the jars - monitor the temperature with a thermometer). A warm overall house temperature is fine. But in the overall view, cool temperatures are never a problem. The rule is to not overheat.

I am sure not taking away from ANYONE's work and am grateful for the work they share. I was just trying to clear up some discrepancies that I found in Tek to Tek...
Peace!

i think the tek was just worded poorly. It seems they ment to say, 'put them in a dark place away from direct sunlight. At the very most, indirect sunlight can be tolerated.'

They should have noted that total darkness is a good goal to achieve.
