Hey there... I've read up on the perlite humidifying techniques but I am at a loss if I am doing everything right...
How wet should the stuff actually be? Wet like that it feels wet to touch or just moist? What are good indications for this? I don't have a way to meassure the humidity in my terrarium so can someone tell me what is a good indication to know when things are good?
I am a paranoid about this because I beleive 1 reason I got infested with bacteria recently was having the perlite much to wet so please help out... thanks

It really depends on how big your tank is. You should probably start out having it where it's just moist, not sopping. You'll be able to tell if you're got some good humidity going on be how much condensation builds up on the walls and lid of the tank.

Just add more water until you get the desired effect, and you'll be all set.

I heard a good rule of thumb was half an inch of water to an inch of perlite for around 90-95% humidity. Its what I use anyway, and it works just fine.

ok if you have half an inch of water does it mean that I could basically fill up the container with water (half an inch of it) first and then add prelite to cover it ot what?
or do you mean half an inch of wet perlite? Or just moist perlite?

Add your Perlite and then fill with water until you reach the desired level. You can alway's remove a little Perlite in one corner to see how much water you have added(if container is opaque). But I always add water to half the volume of Perlite,2 inches of perlite=1 inch of water.

You can do what you did before if the cakes liked it, just put H2O2 in the water this time

OK gotcha... I think I've got it ok now, I have big water drops forming on all the walls and roof so I'm guessing it must be at about 100% humidity...
