Yeah, this grow is when I figured out ezdial tubs don't work well for me. Been a real struggle keeping the surface conditions right. Going back to my old trusty tubs.

Lostkeys, I was having issues with EZ dial tubs as well.
I now wrap them with clingwrap like you would a petri and once they begin to pin, I remove the cling wrap.
Only takes like 30 seconds and helped me out a lot. The holes on the short sides stay open through colonization.

Little pieces of painters tape works great too and comes off real easy if you're trying to block some holes.
I like keeping 'em covered a few extra days in winter months to keep moisture levels up as well.

I'm just going back to the tubs I was using, which were modified with 1" holes covered with high airflow filters from microppose. They give plenty of fae and like no loss of moisture. I don't know why I tried to fix a thing that wasn't broken, but I wanted to see what the fuss was about.

These are my first fruits. When I look at other pics here I see these are tiny in comparison. However I am happy that I got some fruits as this is my first pe variety. These drop spores, which I didn't expect. Got some prints for the future .
The spawn never really colonized all of the coir verm and I think that's why I get small fruits. No sign of contamination though... Does anyone know why it never colonized fully?

They're definitely not regular Melmac. Reverted Melmac if any but even then I have my suspicions.

Hmmm, it would be kind of a bummer if these aren't Melmac. They have these bumpy stripes though. Let's see, I got another tub, which hopefully turns out to be better. I actually trust the member I got the swaps from.
I guess there's no real way to check out if these are indeed melmac without gene sequencing right?

Bumpy stipes sounds all good then, in that case I’d say reverted Melmac.

There could be bacteria in the spawn which would explain both the small reverted fruits and the lack of colonization.
My first run with Melmak I got big gnarly but mostly typical looking cubes, then from a different section of the same plate got the usual Melmak looking ones.

I'd like to try unmodified, simply for the ease in float harvesting. After the abysmal failure with ezdial, I'm worried the open gaps would make the tubs dry out too much. I'm a bit reluctant to waste spawn and materials in the event my conditions aren't suitable.
I should add that even with the less than optimal conditions, it's looking like I'll have at least 4 dry ounces from 3 quarts of spawn...

Got my first mac pins popping up. It took em a while so hopefully there the real deal and I can find a clone to take. Wanted to say thanks to the fresh prints and another member I can't remember that sent me swabs! Idk whose I used but I've got the other set of swabs ready to use 1 and get on agar after work tonight to play around with. Kinda wish I woulda g2g but was in a hurry to see if it would even work/not be a revert.

I guess that to be the case also... from what I've seen they are slow and tend stall and I'd guess it's because of bacteria often.. I'd be interesting it the Revert explanation...also..

First Melmac shoebox.. swab said “homestead”. Very penisy. At this point should I harvest those blobs? Are they taking water away from my fruits?

Getting a pretty decent pinset and a few fatty pins coming along so far. Looking good to me so far. Had a few metabolites but eh fuck it I'm normally a one and done type a guy anyway and this looks like it'll be plenty of cock for me to eat.
