Cumulative risks now includes vaccinated people. You came up with 300/100000. You can’t just compare your risk to a population that is at least 50% vaccinated.

Reduce the population of at risk by half because half has been vaccinated and then multiply by 3 because about 1/3 of the population has been infected.  1.8% pretty much like I’ve been saying

So, you seem to admit that there is in fact such a window (albeit it's smaller)? I was referring more to when efficacy wanes by the way, so your ability to spread increases. Combine this with vaccine evasive variants like delta, and you see your window broadens.

Delta isn’t particularly immune evasive. It is a more fit virus. It infects everyone more easily. The alpha variant was significantly more immunity evasive but it died out because delta is a better virus.

Except YOU HAVE TO GET INFECTED TO HAVE NATURAL IMMUNITY. You have a 100% chance of being infectious if you choose this route. Unbelievable you don’t seem to get this.

I did not 'come up with' 300 / 100,000. I consulted the CDC's official data. Rather than your fake math, the smarter thing to do would be to roll back the clock to before mass vaccination. This puts it at 200 / 100,000. Of course, incidence rates were possibly lower, but if vaccinations are lowering transmissibility then it could be negligible. Then my risk should be even lower now. And, this is without adjusting for comorbidities. Surely the number would be much much smaller after adjusting for that. I am not the least robust 2 out of 1,000 people.

I do not consider this a statistically significant risk, especially after adjusting for comorbidities. I wish I could find the data I want, but some countries track this stuff, and using that, it puts me in a very safe demographic. I had done it before and that's where I came up with 1 in 36,000. But that may have been risk of death.

I already acknowledged that, that's why I said I'd have a limited window of spreading. I've never for some reason thought I could acquire natural immunity without exposure. So drop it.

If it infects everyone more easily, it's evading some portion of the immune response more easily. Everything I've read suggest the delta variant is more evasive against the vaccines that alpha. That is, the vaccines have less efficacy against delta.

I've already stated I'm comfortable with exposure, why are you waiting on me? I really don't understand. I am not holding you hostage, the state is, and I'm opposed to this as well.

Also, I just found a CDC datum stating that 78% of cases in some study were overweight or obese (all ages 20+). So we can take my 0.2 and bump it down to 0.044%. That risk is so small, I don't care to mitigate it. Are you really concerned about me having a 0.044% risk of hospitalization? Mind you, it's likely even lower as I could filter further for comorbities or age demographics.

Koodz, are you prepared to take boosters indefinitely?

There is no real world evidence that delta is better at escaping immunity. Israeli data shows that the boosters against delta alpha have better results than the two shot regime had against the original virus. What is pretty clear is that two shots a month apart is not sufficient. You need two or three months in between.

Because we don’t make public policy based on your opinion of your own risk. We are doing it because unvaccinated people are filling up the hospitals and you are unvaccinated and therefore part of the problem.

I've seen literature that supports lowered efficacy against delta. I even linked one yesterday. But it's not core to this discussion anyway, the point is that different variants can cause different efficacy rates. Here's a supportive example:
https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.09.28.21264260v1

So are you prepared to take boosters every 3-6 months then, for life? If you don't, you'll be back to the same risk profile you've been condemning me for. So, you like that solution more than letting me risk a 0.044% chance at hospitalization? I'm sure if I adjust further, my risk of hospitalization nears my contam risk from my flowhood, lol.

I am statistically extremely unlikely to be filling up any hospital beds. It's about demographics. Maybe require vaccination for those who are obese or over 65.

Blah blah blah

My friend couldn’t join us this weekend because he refuses to get vaccinated. He loves going out and he’s essentially cut off from doing this kind of thing because he’s been brainwashed

Koodz, I will say I admire your ability to avoid addressing my arguements, and instead stick to your prescribed opinions while dismissing me for being brainwashed. And yes, it is too bad the state is on your side and totally sweeping natural immunity under the rug, especially for those that were infected prior to vaccines being available.

I really don't see how boosters for life is a good solution to a problem that only has a 0.044% chance of being a problem at all.

You've addressed almost none of them, you keep thinking my risk profile is way higher than it is, and that I for some reason think I can acquire natural immunity without exposure. That's all you've really said.

You also refuse to acknowledge that natural immunity may very well provide superior protection. Not sure why you guys are so reluctant to acknowledge that one honestly. And you've refused to answer my questions about continual vaccination - are you ok with getting vaccinated every 3-6 months to keep efficacy up? You understand that's really the comparison right, natural exposure vs boosters every 3-6 months?

You don’t need boosters for life to avoid hospitalization. You just need one shot for that and you’re good for life. That is t-cell and b-cell based immunity and that doesn’t really fade over time.

If you want to avoid getting infected then you’d need boosters every so often - once every year or two years. Like the flu shots. Protection against infection requires circulating antibodies and those fade and require another exposure to the antigen to get boosted. T-cells are permanent. Antibodies aren’t.

After your first exposure, whether it be the vaccine or infection, then covid is not dangerous (unless you have poor cellular immunity like the immunocompromised do). It’s the first infection that gets people.

You rely on a totally separate part of the immune system the first time you are infected with a virus - the innate immune system. After that, you rely on the adaptive immune system.

It’s not even the type of the iceberg when you consider the booming profits for insurers. My company expects a massive increase in insurance rates too.

The uninsured continue to be the biggest freeloaders in this country.
