LOL.... You can probably guess who often I get asked that....

Heres the answer as best as I can give it..... Vikings discovered Iceland way back 840 I think, and they thought they found paradise, so to keep it to themselves (they were afterall criminals banished from Norway) they called it Iceland.... Greenland was named to attract people.....

These are old tales, nobody really knows if they are true, but they make some sense

Iceland does have winters, and believe me we see snow, but the average temparature in Iceland during the winters is not very cold at all, around 0c or 33 F .... Considering just how far north the island is, thats some impressive temps....

Cheers,

Thor....

PS  Bivalve, Bjork doesn't spend much time in Iceland anymore, she lives mostly in the UK to avoid Iceland's nasty taxes, and of course the trolls; she's deathly afraid of them.... Oh yeah did I mention the Gnomes!

gnrmi likes gnomes...
iceland, the worlds oldest surviving democracy (the "allthing" was a representative parliment...)
eric redhand & his boys lured wandervolk to the "greenland" & then burned their boats to make sure the settlers stayed settled... & with finn bjorni herjolfsson some boats sailed west to the "vine land", don't be mixin' it up with the skraelings...
mein grandma had family tree traced back 1000+ years, claimed we be fartime offspring from eric red line, mebbe...
(& we better not even mention the tribe of blue-eyed indians whose line died out about 100 years ago in minnesota (can we say kensington stone?) & eastsailing norse to volga/slavs, give name (after yellow/red hair color of norse invaders...)to new land they found themselves ruling --- russ ya...)
(& what about the twelve tribes of the nordic peoples, huh?)
heh...

Anyone look at more pictures on his website?

Cheers,

Thor....
