Transkei's traits?
    #2754255 - 06/01/04 06:26 PM (19 years, 9 months ago)

A friend of mine has a couple of Transkei casings and had a few questions that I couldnt answer so I thought I would pass em on to you all and get the low down.

Throughout colonization things looked pretty normal(millet and c.corn)but the myc looked a bit fuzzier than I have ever seen.

When they were finished he spawned them into some horsepoo and while they were growing he noticed that the myc was very puffy, sort of cottony and a bit whispy. -I took a look and assured him it wasnt cobweb, but advised him to go ahead and emplement a light h2o2 misting once a day to make sure things stayed cool.

When he cased the poo with coir/verm the myc continued to keep this same look and ,in fact, resembled cobweb quite a bit IMO. But low and behold all of the areas that the suspicious myc came through produced a very nice pinset and things are looking good.

So anyway ,my question is... is this typical of the strain or is this probably due to some sort of genetic abnormality or something? His casings also have an unusual number of fatasses compared to most strains I have seen. Is this typical also?

Thanks for any info you guys might have from your experiences with these little South African mushies!

Really something that can happen to any strain. These showed no rizzo growth but seemed to do well. PES H

Thanks Magash! That is what I wanted to hear. Those babies look sweet! This was actually the first time I have seen myc grow without any rizzo and it just seemed a little odd looking. Thanks so much for the reassurance I will let my friend know that he shouldnt have to smack em down with h2o2 just yet!
