NE One want to help me troubleshoot? Please? :)

Well I just upgraded my computer from an AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.4 to a Pentium 4 3Ghz.

New Components:
Abit IS7 mobo
1GB Corsair Value Select dual channel pc-3200 (2 512mb modules)
Pentium 4 3GHz retail

Old components:
WD Raptor SATA 36GB HD (this is my boot drive)
Two IDE Drives for Data, Seagate Barracuda 30GB and IBM Deskstar 40GB, on Primary IDE
SB Audigy Platinum
Sapphire RADEON 9800 Pro 128MB
Two IDE CD Drives on Secondary IDE, generic floppy

So here is the problem. The Western Digital (which is labeled as drive E:, the other data drives are labeled C and D) is detected fine. The windows install program has no problem installing windows to it either (and on my previous configuration it was labeled as E: with no problems). But, when the system restarts to continue the windows installation, when it comes time to boot from the HD the screen goes blank and that's it, nothing else happens.

I'm going to continue troubleshooting, removing devices etc, but if anyone has ideas I'd appreciate hearing them.

Thanks

EDIT: I tried booting from C: and E: through bios, each with the same result.

Nice choice of processors, and nice rig.

I had trouble booting from my SATA-RAID0, but it all turned out well. Maybe it's just XP acting up. Keep us updated.

Berkeley huh? Me too.

I'm at work now so I'm not oging to be able to work on this until later tonight.

Thanks, btw, I am looking forward to playing Far Cry on this thing...if only it would boot! hehe. I don't think it is XP, first thing I'll try is taking out my other two hard drives though, and just installing to my SATA HD.

OH JOY...It is a wonderful day when itunes takes up less than 1% of the cpu.

So I threw in my old SATA card and didn't even use the built in connector, and it works. So, I'll probably just leave it and when I reformat in a couple months, as I always end up doing, I'll give it another shot from the mobo.

I was just too anxious to play with my new proc. hehe, I feel like a kid again!

3.0c overclocks like a champ. I have a decent PC3200 right now but when I upgrade to some quality PC3500 or PC4000 I'll be good to go!

Right now you can see what my 3.0c is OC'd to. I had it post at 4.05GHz, and got into Windows at 3.90GHz, but not stably. What stepping do you have? I've got an SL6WU.
