Gonna be working with 9 tubs and 36 lb of rye grain, what should my ratio be for each?

1:4 seems to produce the best results.  Anywhere between 1:2 - 1:4 gets the job done… up to you

So I’m going to be using 650g of coir to 4 lb of grain spawn, correct?

No your ratio is 1:4 which is one part spawn to 4 parts substrate.

You can use 4lb spawn but that would require 16lb of sub.

You won't use such large amounts per tub, you would have too much sub and spawn per tub.

So basically I have way too much grain prepared and I will use 1 lb (1 quart) or spawn, and a gallon of coir ?

You need to gauge how much will fit into your tubs first, tub size is a major factor.

Put four or five quarts of spawn in each tub then add coir til its the right depth.

That’s the simple way.

4 pounds/quarts of spawn is about right for most full sized tubs.  In 66qt tubs, I like to use 4 quarts of spawn mixed with 8 quarts of coco, then toplayer with another 2 quarts of straight coco.  If you prepare the coco over FC, just add a little dry verm to balance things out.  There's no precise ratio that always works best - you can go with a lower ratio if you need faster colonization to help beat out contams, or go higher if you have a healthy culture and you're trying to maximize output per tub.

I have 66 qt tubs but am now hearing conflicting information and am confused. I can go get more tubs if need be, was thinking could do 20 tubs 3 flushes 2 rounds each with this spawn. Would be a 66 qt tub 1 lb spawn 4 lb coir. But I’m also hearing just use a brick of coir but those only weigh 1.4 lb? I am so confused and this does not need to be that complicated lol

I've never weighed my coir, I always measure it by volume.  4qts of spawn per tub is fine - just mix 8qts of coco and you'll have a 1:2 ratio.  If you want a thicker substrate because *reasons* add another 4 quarts of coco and you'll be using a 1:3 ratio.  IME between 3-4qts of spawn per tub works well.  When I use 3lbs of spawn I notice about a couple ounce drop off in tub yields but if you have the room to run extra tubs you can certainly do it.  There will be some trial and error figuring out what your cultures like best.

A 1 lb brick is only 1 lb until it's hydrated.  Most 1lb bricks will make 7-9 quarts of hydrated coco.  As every brand/package of coir is a little different in how much water it needs to achieve FC, just stick to measuring by volume of hydrated coco and don't worry about the weight.

I do 2 holes on each wall for a total of 8. I started with 1 on the short ends but it needed a bit more air. I also live in a pretty dry area so if your area is kinda humid I bet you could pop a couple more holes in it.

I know it’s anecdotal and varies depending on conditions, but how much is the average yield from these tubs after 3-4 flushes, no dunking? Thinking either b+ or golden teacher, 1:2 ratio rye grain and coir, what should I expect?

As you note, there are a LOT of variables that affect yields. However, a very rough estimate for my average grow is 1 to 1.5 dry ounces per myco-quart of spawn. A skilled pro can get much higher in fewer flushes with a proven culture. But I have been able to consistently achieve these numbers as a noob from multi-spore syringe-> agar-> oat jars-> tub grows of GT and PE.

Thanks, when you say myco-quart do you mean substrate+spawn? So if I had 2 quarts of of spawn and 8 quarts of coir, I would get like 10ish plus ounces?
