Anyone have any idea what the survival reason for overlay is?
I'm thinking maybe protection from underground mycelium drying out (since they are from South Africa, it's dry, right, but not as dry as further up north in African continent?)
And maybe for protection against wild animals digging up underground mycelium and eating. Do animals do that?
The more you know. (about P-Nats, the more there is to not know and to find out)

Those are so nuts looking! Natalensis is a trip.
2nd flush on this mono is coming in real nice! Actually had 2 mini harvest in between 1st flush and now. I'm definitely cloning from that large cluster

My first order of nat prints are coming next week from an awesome vendor. Is it realistic to have good flushes with just a CV sub? I kinda want to get more comfortable with growing before I start messing with manure. I've also heard that nats can react badly with certain types of grains that cubes tend to love (like rye) and I'm wondering if this is true or not.

The spawn has all the nutrition they need, coir just holds water for them. No need to mess with manure unless you’re running pans.

How many weeks are those spawn jars?
What size hole are you plugging with poly on the top? Do you put it in loose, or tight? Do you reuse the poly?
Thank you.

Those Jars are probably over 2 weeks old now.
I use 1/4 inch holes And stuff the poly as tight as possible, you can reuse them probably 10000 times

I nocced a few plates 3 days ago with 2 different batches of spores, one labeled Natal ss and the other Natalensis, interested to see if they're different just based on the print ID and past experience.
