dunk your cakes.. but what about casings?

I'm well aware of the benefits you reap from dunking your cakes. I've seen the photos, I've read the hype.. but what about casings? I am sure the same principles are at work, and it's quite possible, but would it be worth it in this particular situation?

My buddy has a casing that's been fairly inactive for a week or two now, and might even have some mold on certain spots of it. If the mold is cleaned away or even cut away, and the rest of the casing dunked, does anyone think that it might live to fruit again? And if so, would it even be worth the trouble, if it did?

I've seen some mighty impressive dunked cakes/casings, so I figured this would be worth asking/trying..

the reason you dunk cakes is because they dry out so much whilst incubating. A casing layer is there to add moisture. Some people will dunk them after the first flush. Others will just scrape off the top casing layer and recase.

I would recase it..... If you dunk make sure u have drainage holes.
