A wedge is a triangular piece of agar with mycelium growing on it measuring around 2x1 cm. A wedge is made by cutting a piece out of a colonized agar plate.
When one puts a wedge back on a fresh agar plate, the mycelium begins to grow and eventually colonizes the new agar plate.

ok I think i understand. For how long can you store a wedge? can you use it direct on grain if you dont have agar?

When only a wedge is shipped to you, it is usually in a small plastic baggie. In this form it can be kept for months in the fridge.
It will dry out with time, so it is best to store it in a small Tupperware container in fridge.
A wedge(actually a square):

Well like spore prints, how do you "reincarnate" with these???
Does anyone know what I mean? Like when you grow with a spore print, you take the print off a cap when the 'project' is finished by placing the cap on a piece of paper with a glass over it.. But how does this process work with Wedges? and also, can someone kindly donate me a wedge please? I'm in the PNW
