The raw cactus never had that effect on me. But each person's body is different. I remember expecting to take a big green dump after eating cactus. But I would just have normal bowel movements afterwards.

Probably due to all the mucilage -- everyone's microbiome is different though, what prompts loose stools for some produces healthy bowel movements for others.

Thatβs reassuring.

In retrospect, it most likely was due to the fact I was consuming the whole fruit, seeds and all. Didnβt wanna waste anything. The seeds were definitely much more mucilaginous . Pretty sure I stopped eating the seeds after a few times haha. Forgot about that.

This thread needs more bridgesii pics!
These spiders have lived on my cactus for at least a few years now. Sometimes the lay flat with their legs straight out and look just like spines.

Transplanted this SS02 yesterday. It had rooted quite a bit in the dry coco over the winter.

No name seed grown bridge also just transplanted.

Thanks guys!
I haven't eaten raw cactus, well except for a little taste sometimes when I take cuttings. I will say that if you cook your tea for longer (like 12+hours), and strain really well/decant before drinking, it helps with nausea a lot. Cooking also destroys the oxalates I believe.
I end up mixing all the cuttings I slice up and dry together for extract usually, so it's a mix of species every time I've done it...but it's always bridge heavy. I will say the full spec limo/acetate extract I do feels very much like tea and has a different feel than the super pure HCL I've tried. The full spectrum also seems stronger by weight to me.

My Bridgesii seeds came in today!
I couldn't find any potting soil besides Miracle Grow mix, and I read not to use that. So I mixed peat moss (miracle grow brand) with perlite about 50/50, and added some CVG that I had left over from another project. Put it in a cup and the top inch was sifted through a wire strainer so it's very fine soil. Misted it a few times to dampen the top, and pressed about 5 seeds less than an inch deep, covered with a small ziplock bag, and they're in a shady spot in a windowsill. The room they're in gets about 70-80 degrees.
I made 2 cups like that.

What about sand? I bet they would like a couple handfuls of sand. Iβm not trying to be a smart assβ¦
My popβs lives in Arizona and he put cacti all down his walkway to his front door. Ha ha. That stuff grew fast, he would just break a piece off and set it on top of rocks and they would root pretty quickly and start growingβ¦.
I wish you luck!

So I harvested today for my next batch of tea. I'm going to let these cuttings age for a few weeks before making the tea.
The longer one is Bridgesii "SS02". The shorter one is Pachanoi "Altmans TPM".
These are fat cuts from big plants. I know they will be potent. 3 doses from this material should be plenty strong. But I'm thinking about dividing the tea into 2 doses and going deep. I'm not sure. Going to think about it some more...

Are you going to drink it or dry the tea and eat it?

I'm going to brew that into tea and then divide the tea into 2 or 3 equal doses. I drink the tea.

Beautiful cuts for that! They look really thick and healthy. Iβd love to know how much all that weighs together.
I say go for 2! Iβm always pleased when I choose to divide into less but you know your plants best and those look thick! Good luck with whatever you decide. Sending good vibes for your prep and journey

Finally giving Bridgesii a go. Have grown a few other types of cacti before but never Bridgesii.
Seeds germinated super easily. I have them with my other plants indoors now until it gets a little warmer out here.

what??! no way u r going to divide 12 pounds of those (and ss02 is potent) to 2 doses! 12 pounds is more than 5 kg, and my strongest trip so far was with 4.5 kg divided to 4 doses (and it was my country PC) i would divide urs to 4

Thanks for the weight, 12 pounds is a lot!!
The most I ever did was 1200 grams but it was a mix of old thick growth and thin new growth. Wasnβt crazy strong but was a great time for sure.
Iβm interested to hear how this goes for you or what you decide. Thanks for letting us know!

Thank you both for your insights. I will probably divide it into 3. But I have a few more weeks to think it over. I know it will be strong as 3 doses. Both of these cacti were strong when I tried them before. And both of them are much larger plants now. It might even be wise to divide the tea into more than 3 doses. I'll keep thinking it over.
Beautiful seedlings Dave Bowman!
