Thank you for your help. I have been reading for one year on the topic, but my reason for this post was to find out the best method to use out of all of them. Specifically i was looking for the best method for a newbie. The pf tek method has always seemed the way to go, but some people say the success rate is low. Also i guess i have one more, since im new what are my chances on pulling a good yeild? And what (if ne) are the best spores for a newbie to start with?
thanks

Look, if ya want good yields with half the hassle try the PF tek. the only reason why people have had low success rates is because they didn't follow it word for word. AKA lazynest will result in failure. you must do it they way he tells you, come on the guy has been growing for 20 years, I think he know's what he's talking about. And don't listen to captainmax, He doesn't like the PF tek because he wants people to indulge in his contam tek. he's just jealous of PF. go to PF and get his PF and pes hawaiian, And if you follow his tek you'll get about a 1/4 pound of dried shrooms over a 3 month period. You won't even eat that many in that time frame. Everytime I use the pftek I always get 100% success. If you want your first experience to be a good one try his tek, if ya want it to be a bad one then try everybody else's.

Gee, I wonder who pfsilly2 is? :p
PF-tek is definitely the way to go for first time cultivators though.

The easiest way to grow is this The D.B. Kit. Now here is why.

If you read the P.F. Tech you will see you need a pressure cooker, jars, vermiculite, brown rice and or birdseed, a mister and countless other things.

Here are the D.B. instructions. You need an inocculant and that is it. You can add heat if you want to speed it up. I was overstating this slightly. You would also need sterilization supplies i.e. isoprople alcohol ect...

Yes, I agree, send hawk all your money, then after your done, send it all to him again. Don't try to learn how to cultivate or experiment with compost or different procedures. And if you get contamination, don't worry about it, you can always get another DB kit for $107-$150 + syringes.

If you want a large yield, you want it to be super-easy, and you are willing to spend the money, the DB-Kit is the way to go...DB-Kit is especially good if you don't want to go through the hassle of sterilization. But just make sure you do it using sterile techniques, because contamination would suck...Just don't fuck it up...be careful. If I were you...and you've got access to a pressure cooker...go with PF-Tek.

Thank you everyone for your help, you have all been most kind :) I've liked the PF tek method from the begining, and it looks like thats the way im going to choose. Im planning a trip up into the PA section of the AT about the end of apr early may, i want to have at least an oz of mushies for me and my friends to enjoy while we are camping, is this feasable? I hear people producing large yields in short amounts of time, and was wondering if this was possible. Im a patient guy so following some simple steps isn't a problem with me, and like my momz always said "good things come to those that wait". Is there a certain species of cubs that neone can recomend(sp)? My friends and i look enjoy energetic "happy hyper" trips with loads of visuals. The last thing imma write here now is if neone is interested in coming up on this hike with us drop me an email and we'll work out details, always lookin for new heads to enjoy nature with.
thanks again

dunno where you been,
but, FYI, pf tek does NOT require a pressure cooker.
please get your 'facts' straight before you share them.
