Possible Ps. pelliculosa
    #27522043 - 10/28/21 07:44 PM (2 years, 2 months ago)

Habitat:
Cascades lane county 3500’ near a blockaded car trail in forest that burned in 2017.  Not directly In but close to a small berm or slash.
Gills:
Khaki?

Stem: long and thin.  Not easily broken

Cap:
Conical/bell shaped, sticky has a removable gelatinous pellicle

Spore print color:
Will have in the morning

Bruising:
There is very little blue bruising right at the base.  One had a darker blue bruise about where a ring would be, it’s not a ring, just bent right about there.  It’s very faint, and hard to seen in the lighting I have.

I would say probably yes, P. pelliculosa. Or whatever it is that passes under that name in your region.
Looks to me like there is some blue bruising quite high up on the stem in that specimen in front in the first two pictures.

No worries, I'd say keep looking in that area to see if you can find more

What are you mainly looking at to determine this? The stipe or cap? I was under the impression this mushie required microscopes to identify.

1. Familiarity

2. I look for every main identifying features of Psilocybe Pelliculosa, from the cap, stem, gills, separable gelatinous pellicle, white fibrils on stem, and blue bruising.

That's because there could possibly be a species or two going under the same name due to lack of research.

Just if you want to be certain of the exact species, there are several closely related species that fit the macroscopic features of this mushroom, such as Psilocybe washingtonensis, for purposes of casual hunters, and hobbyists, these different species are generally  treated as a species complex, and not often ID’d beyond that point. Psilocybe pelliculosa group. would probably be a better way to word the identification, even though Psilocybe pelliculosa, does actually grow in your region, there is at least one other species in the complex that grows in the wet part of the Pacific North West.
