Chromium always shows search history

Ugh I really really hate the state of internet browsers
they're practically all rip offs of eachother with their own annoying little twists-

I have to use chromium now because of an issue with Microsoft Edge and my online school stuff.
If i'm forced to use this browser does anyone know how to disable the address bar auto suggesting things???

I've always furiously hated this feature it's been such an annoying joke since it first it existed. You know, type one single letter and then it suggests your previous searches
in chromium there is a box to disable this in the privacy settings
but it doesn't actually disable it

Cmon does anyone know the secret cheat code to REALLY disable it? I found it in Edge and it's SUCH a relief. I think I had to disable history entirely.

Shoot, I tried disabling the autofill flag entirely from this page
chrome://flags/#omnibox-zero-suggestions-on-ntp
Freakin didn't work :frown: This is really blowing my mind.
I refuse to believe that all users of Chromium just tolerate this, surely there is a real way to disable this

Turns out you really cannot disable it
Only browser that this doesnt happen on is Brave
Weird stuff. I guess this is what we get for making the free codes the most popular sold codes...

Funny thing is Chromium's code is used for other browsers er used for Chrome's code then Chrome's code's used for other browsers
Mozillas code is also shared

Thats why the New Tab page on most browsers looks nearly identical right now
