this whole hype about foot and mouth pisses me off a little. There REALLY isnt THAT much of a need to slaughter all of the animals. There is not one single link throughout the several hundred years that this disease has been around to any illness in humans.
Hell, the disease isnt even typically fatal to the animals, its more like a bad flu or something...thats why generally, only the very young, old or weak animals will die from this...
Most make a full recovery.
So, the question is, why are they doing this? What possibly could be the motivation?
hmm...i need to think more about that
Another interesting thing, as far as i have reaserched (i still have alot more to do), is that no scientist has ever proven that prions do what they claim that they do, and they havent even taken a picture of a "prion" (if im wrong, please let me know, a link would be cool).
In britain, there is a group of farmers that is trying to open the eyes of the people to what they think is the real problem of mad cow disease. Thee is a chemical called "phosmet" that the government has been applying to the backs of the cows. There are some very serious chemicals in that stuff, and some of them are known to cause problems such as what we see in mad cow disease... And yet, they get no media attention in the US, and are ignored by everyone... Of course, if they were found out to be right, then the chemicals company that made it will lost billions of dollars...
hmmm

Has anyone here even considered that this whole mad cow disease is the result of an Iraqui revenge plot buy Sadaam Huisein's Revolutionary Guard. They have tons of biological anthrax over there according to several Russian sources. They were mad at the English for dropping bombs before this episode broke out. They have the money and means and the revolutionary guard met with Sadaam before this all happened to plot a course of revenge.
I can think of no worse revenge then committing a terrorist act to get even. One that would damage the English economy.
Hey but what do I known. (I am only a mushroom man). But that is what the mushrooms have led me to believe.

Foot and mouth disease is spotted with sheeps, not with pigs!
In reply to:
Originally from: MM
this foot and mouth epidemic started when infected meat was fed to pigs
The foot and mouthdisease is another thing wich the government of the UK has to blaim itself. Because of the fact that they don't inject the sheeps because exportcountries(like the USA) don't want injected meat. When they had inject all sheeps this wouldn't have happened. It has now also been discovered in the Netherlands!!

quattro, there is an obvious reason why they slaughter animals that are infected with the foot and mouth disease....its because the disease spreads exstremely fast throughout herds and 90% of the time the infected animal dies as a result of the disease

"90% of the time the infected animal dies as a result of the disease"
Uhh...not accordiing to anything i have read. Where does it say that? On one of the "official" istes about it, they said that only a small minority of the animals actually die.
BTW, foot and mouth has been widespread for a LONG time now...its just in the media right now.

It is a virus ,wich could be prevented by injection.
The virus causes blatters to appear on the feet and in the mouth, makes it hard for the animals to walk and eat....easy to prevent but as several countries don't want injected meat this isn't done!!!!
