As long as you aren't taking the weight/valve off before 0 it should be fine. Unless you are in a cold climate outdoors, you may need to use the lowest heat setting during cool down (maybe) If it's cold and you pop bags you know why.

Well dont you let the sterilizer cool down slowly?

Or you just turn it off completely after 4 hours?

Im talking about intentionally cooling your PC slowly to avoid popped bags.

Like to ensure this doesnt happen..?

When the cycle is complete I turn the u it off and walk away until the next day, I don't fuck with it or do anything to it whatsoever.

It's the same if you want to run another cycle, turn of the burner and walk away until your sterilizer hits zero, don't touch it, don't pop the vent, don't try to artificially speed up the cool down in any way...just walk away.

Impatience is one of the primary issues that cultivators face, everything takes time.

Thanks - appreciate this. I’m looking forward to the agar journey as much as the rest!
I made distilled water for the Agar recipe but need to be reminded whether distilled is required for grain prep? Grain prep is a way off yet but wanted to ask!

I think thats it. You know i actually did it indoors too ,by my growroom. But it was right next to the intake in my preconditioning room that was blowing cold air from outside like directly on it...
I was kinda worried but clearly underestimated it.

You dont think its because i got it up to 25psi then?

And its just crazy. It 25psi wont pop a bag and the burners heating up the sides doesnt pop the bags.

It must be the liquid gas exspanion blahblah whatever i dont fully understand yet. And i tell you what i pop so many bags because of this and its driv8jg me crazy! I thougjt the AA was going to be the end all answer but its not.

It must be the cool down. And i meed to get to the bottom of this

But we arent even talking super cold, like 50-65 degrees probably.

Thats why im wondering how slowly you guys see your pressure drops happening.

Patience isnt my issue, its popped bags in a 941

Im not speeding up the cooldown. Im trying to do the oplosite, but i didnt last time because i thought the 941 would be immune of this issue, its not.

I assume most of you run your sterilizers in rooms kept around 70degrees?

Your unit has a lot of thermal mass, those temps won't slow things at all.

If the btu output of your burner is too high and your flame is curling around the bottom of the pot you'll likely melt your bags. Pressure will not pop bags as the pressure will prevent their expansion, this is why they pop when you quickly release the pressure by opening the valve which causes rapid expansion of any gases.

no there is no pressure on a bag while under pressure, it's all equalized inside and out. 25 psi won't pop the bag but you may be getting close to melting temp.

It's totally about the internal temp of the wet bag being over a the boiling temp of said water, ie cooling too fast. That's all that pops bags.

Being in a pressurized vessel won't allow your bag to expand, that's all I meant, not that there is a pressure difference between the inside and outside of the bag.

I couldn't imagine a bag inflating while in a pressurized vessel.

yea I was in agreeance with you there is no inflation we posted at same time haha

Just give it a try with low heat cooling and see how she goes. that's really all I think you can do with cold climate besides insulating it and lets not burn the house down.

I dont use propame anymore because of this also.
So it has to be the cool down.

Lol ive thought about insulating it but at this point i must just need to cool it by leaving the burner on low.

No house burnin here. Learned that after frying my hands putting out an extention cord fire

They won't pop from cooling, they pop from expanding gases.

Do exactly what I do in that video, exactly what I do and you'll never have a popped bag again.

Yeah good point, you absolutely must purge your vessels correctly.

With my 75x I purge for 20 mins. Don't purge by building pressure and then venting, as described in the manual; the manual was not written with spawn bags in mind.

6 hours might be a bit long, but it does take a while. Worst case you air it out a bit.

Whats causing the expanding gases(air)? Cant be heat?

Your videos not much different than natedawgs prep or teds deads prep. Theres no technique in yours that will help me beyond theirs, am i right?

****and you know whats funny i did the bags exaxtly like you did! Exactly, minus the second trivet. I did a tr8vet in the bittom and a plate on top, 3 bags first layer triangle, 3 bags second layer offset triangle, 2 bags on top evenly spaced, no seal, no spacers, 20ish psi for 4.5ish hours.

2 things happened tho, it got to 25psi, i turned it down, come back 20 mins later its at 12, turn it back up to 20ish, its fine until i turn it off completely 4 hours later. 5 popped bags.

My last run priot i cooled it down slowly and had 0.

Im pretty sure its them cooling too quickly

In reference to that link i posted. That i got from sandman.

If you're running your bags at that high of a pressure then you're also running hot, I'd wager thermal destruction of your bags over some mystery expanding gases because your room requires that you wear a sweater.

I mean at 25 psi its still less than 275F i think.. pretty sure the plastics rated to around 350. Ive asked this questi9n before and either you or ted told me that wouldnt be it. Thats what these bags are made for, is what i was told.

I mean maybe 25psi for however long. But ive been told to believe otherwise, also some people run there autoclaves at 20+psi iirc, maybe even earth angle along with southwest, not sure at all thoo..

Nobodies ran their AA to a whistle and not popped bags?

*** and i know the steilizers have a thermal masss, but rapid cooling of the outer portion is what im talking about. Causing rapid cooling on edges of the substrate inside the bag. Causing the moisture to "explode" In the bag popping it.

I think that link i posted from sandman you should read.

I dont even think a PC will get hit enough to melt the plastic.?

with wheat I turn my burner on high for 45 min, cut heat and soak for another 45 min then drain.  the water should be hot but not boiling

Are you using Unicorn brand bags? People melt bags all of the time when using gas burners.

Bags are incredibly easy to get right. The only way to fuck up the actual structural integrity of the bags is to melt by using high btu gas, or to pop them via expansion, or by using shitty knock offs that suck balls.

You said it yourself 25 psi is hot, your vessel is made out of metal which absorbs this heat and so do all of the bags full of water and grain, 50 or 60f will not have a measurable impact on the thermal mass of that unit, it just doesn't matter. It will still have warm bags inside 12 hours later.
