pic tax for conversation- i really didnt wanna fuckin tare the scale..

damn crazy, 2020-2021 taking our supply chains for a stress test lmao- i've noticed getting some specific tubs from local walmarts were hard too, specific ones to popular online teks +
coco coir almost sells out in 2-3 days, if that, after shipments received at the local pet stores especially popular chain.

and then the vermiculite - i am actually kind of relieved its a shortage lmao, fungus madness going on over here tbh.. that sucks its nationwide. Lets gather our resources and lease mine somewhere and get our own in shroomery's name lol. I went over to ace hardware to grab the last bag of verm recently, i was like "so where are the big bags i use to find all around" and the lady was like, "idk honestly, it seems that everyone is growing mushrooms?"

wibes

those KSS are looking super fresh.

all these are melmak, got 8 tubs more going up tomorrow. Same dish, two major sectors half went to this set the other half went to the 8 going up tomorrow. still trying to find the balance and flow of how i want to run things in terms of schedule and the cycles/numbers- anyone have any good resources to read to gain some insights on that?

also, wtf is up with this vermiculite shortage??? is this nationwide or just on the west coast-ish?

Keep us updated...I want to see these tubs progress!!! You got pictures of your plates? I've been working with some Melmak TP and am wondering what other people's plates are looking like.

five lb grain bag on day 4 of inoculation. Super aggressive KSSS LC

How many cc's of LC did you use?? It usually takes 4+ days for mine to even start spreading

I go pretty heavy, 100cc and shake the bag thoroughly. Depending on the culture but its usually 4-7 days for full colonization

Johnny, why do you use that much? I am not doubting it, but most people say use well less than 100cc.

It's certainly working for  you, so I would love to know more.

Thank you.

So I've done a bunch of different methods, and this is the best and fastest method that works for me.
I don't use syringes, I just free pour into bags before impulse sealing. So I run 4-5 bags per 500ml so I'm around 100-125ml per bag. Since LC is tough to tell if there is an issue using this much limits the amount of bags that I use per jar of LC.

I can tell within the week if the bag will be a keeper or a tosser. Telltale signs of a bad bag is slow colonization or a really wet bag. If the LC is good I will see visible growth in 3 days and explosive growth in day 4-5. Any stalling or excessive moisture is a negative sign. It also limits the amount of bags I will lose compared to using 50ml on 10 bags or 25ml on 20 bags.

This year I was doing runs of 50-100 bags so speed and efficiency was what I was trying to achieve.
I run my lc with high nutrient level too. 10g LME to 500ml water, The LC after 3 weeks is pretty thick, slurry like. I'll make 10-15 jars a week so there is no need to skimp on LC. Speed is the key

Personally I free pour roughly 100cc in my 5.6lb grain bags too.

Amazon only has really fine verm right now. It's like sand. It works but I really want some coarse.

After a year spent in mushroom limbo, i am back with a new set up. Light is on a 12/12 cycle, with the bulb being about 5500k (the box only shows kelvin scale, not the actual number). The fan turns on 5 times a day for approximately 1 minute.

What do you think?
