Nice, what culture?
-------------------- Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here. ------------------- Have some medicinal mushrooms and want to get the most out of them? Try this double extraction method.

Sweet! I did 12 shiitake blocks about 6 years ago and man it took a long time. Then right after that, my grocery store started selling fresh shiitake for 2 dollars a pound so I haven't tried again. I have 2 bags of lions mane right now, and they're the only thing that wants to fruit. Can't wait, they'll be my first mushrooms since 2018.

Perks of living in the Pacific northwest. Lots of mushrooms on the ground and in the store. You guys don't have Asian markets in Australia?? I'm sure I could spend 20 a pound for them if I tried, but I'm cheap. Chanterelles are popping right now around me, get a 5 gallon bucket full for free every day if I want, they're on the ground
But for me, I love the fast pace of growing mushrooms, watching them grow and develop, very much a nice thing for me. Shiitake was a good experience, but the time and space investment for me was a turnoff. I actually prefer them dried, the taste is a lot deeper and developed, and they're even cheaper than fresh.
And I was wrong. It's 2.99 for an 8oz flat. So that's more like 6 dollar a pound.
