It is worth going out checking, yes. A dip into the blue won't kill them off. It might even give them a little kick to get more fruits going. I've picked them even from lightly snow covered fields. It is the deep, hard and long frost that heralds the end of the season. I remember that somebody here in Norway even found them in February this year, after a three-four weeks cover of snow melted during a mild spell.
How far north are you?

Nice, good to hear! I'm in Troms. It's raining even more than predicted today so I'll definitely go out hunting Tuesday or Wednesday

If you don't look, you won't know what's there. when conditions are right, they will grow. I hunt year round, but I like being outdoors in the woods or pastures, there's always something to see.

I went to look around my area today but unfortunately didn't find anything, no new stuff or no signs of anything old either. I'm gonna check another place tomorrow but hopes are low...

After a couple of weeks "hiatus" from hunting, I went out today to check a nice area. Seems like I walked straight into the season's peak...

Those witches hats are strong. Only 1.5g lemon tek tea whith 4cl vodka was like 2.5 or even 3. It has witchy effect too. When most of my semilanceatas trips were beautiful geoometric pattern trips, then those were like i had healing powers and saw demonic faces closed eyes. They were like different species.

Witch hats I remember back in some years North/Baltic topic they were argued to be / or called psilocybe strictipes, but if I recall correctly they`re just semilanceata with particular growth "style". I have found these kind of semis growing always in taller grass. And also seemed to me as different species.
So finally came the heavy rain here in north Estonia. Should go do some hunting in few days. Seems season is still upon us

picked some fresh ones 3 days ago on a patch of "roll out grass" around a newly build block, took some and put a piece on agar to see what happens. (fukin hard to taketissue sample on those ones)
the autumn had a kick back here in mid noruega and seems to be producing some more. so iĺl just have to get back out there i guess
this year have been a record year by the way (over 900g, must be like more or less 25000 maybe) been out 3.5 weeks on the hunt just driving back and forth through the mountains (and sleeping at friends when possible)
to be able to track rain/moisture and with that use maps and satelite view is truly an amazing tool for finding old farmsteads long abandoned by man..
the experiance have been mind altering to say the least. it truly has an effect to deeply dive into that kind of energy, to kind of bond with semils. in the end i more or less lost it in sence of my own perception of being.
i couldnt close my eyes without seeing semils, couldnt think about other things than grass and moisture levels. My eyefocus changed so that i could only see details and had a hard time taking in "the bigger picture" . also the effect of that small dopamine rush from finding one semil x 20000+ just wore my mind out.
i had to go to SemilRehab after that just to rest my self to pieces. Alot similar to the after effect of any kind of mind altering, just longer and stronger.
definitly going out next year again ..

over 900g
Congratulations. But may I ask why? I mean, it's more than anyone will consume in a 10 year period, and the back pain/muscle ache after picking all those must be quite strong... I have found it better to stop picking when it's enough and just enjoy the sight of mushrooms growing everywhere.

I know exactly what you mean! The brain is so focused on scanning grass, it's hard to calm it down when it's triggering on mushrooms all the time.
