Hate to be Debbie Downer, but not really. Nothing was decriminalized, and no laws or punishments have been changed. They just voted to say that they would support decriminalization if legislation were to be introduced. It also requests that the Seattle Police Dept “formally codify and adopt policies that protect” those who cultivate psychedelics.
The Seattle PD is a corrupt criminal organization which has been run under a federal consent decree by the Dept of Justice for almost 10 years now. They have a completely broken relationship with the city council, and they are not interested in considering ANY suggestions or requests regarding law enforcement from the city council unless they are legally obligated to do so.

Your right but qote
Additionally, Herbold said the council is anticipating state action on the decriminalization of psychedelics in the next legislative session in response to a decision by the Washington Supreme Court to strike the law criminalizing possession of controlled substances as unconstitutional.

Yes, really looking forward to what happens in the state legislature this year! There does seem to be a groundswell of support that crosses political parties. A fair number of conservatives have been convinced by the benefits offered to PTSD patients, especially for former soldiers. The smooth rollout of state-legal cannabis 9 years ago should provide a roadmap and reassure some legislators that are on the fence about it.
But until that happens - I would not expect any leniency from the SPD.
