quart size jars
    #2747320 - 05/30/04 04:01 PM (19 years, 9 months ago)

All i can find is quart size jars. Does anyone have tek on using these (ratio for brf and verm, length of time for full colonization. Also my grow room is pretty good temp wise (85-90f) for colonization but bot for fruiting. Does anybody have any ideas for lowering temp in grow box. My setup is a glass aquarium that fits inside a plastic tub with a lid.

If your gonna use quart size jars for brf I'd say finishing time should be sometime around 2011 give or take a year.

brf/verm won't work well in quart size jars... too long to colonize, and no easy way to get the cake out of the jar once colonization is complete...

popcorn, wbs, rye berries, just about any grain tek will work well with the quart jars

I definitely say if that's all you can get, go with a grain tek. From what I've seen, most people prefer them to PF cakes and wonder why it's recommended to start with the PF Tek when grains are just as easy or easier, since you don't have to do the grinding and mixing. Of course this is assuming you have a pressure cooker, which is necessary for grains.

Good points, but you don't necessarily always have to case grains. I've had quarts of WBS that were rock solid when finished.

He he he.....I love those rock hard jars. They are perfect to case. Often so colonized that it's hard to contam em. (Not impossiable by any means, just harder to contam then loose grain)

1 quart = 2 pints
1/2 quart = 1 pint
1/2 pint = 1 quart

conversion table

so what's the fuss about?? your quart jars are the same size as 1/2 pint jars...which you are supposed to use...

Today, common man, don't do that to me when I'm stoned.

1 quart = 2 pints yes
1/2 quart = 1 pint Yes
1/2 pint = 1 quart Now your fucking with my fragile little mind.

I'm third to mention this, but I would just like to point out that this claims that 1/2 pint = 2 pints, which I thought was kinda funny.

people have reported 1/2 pint jars being sold at walmart... why dont you check their? or im sure their is actually a wholesale canning/jarring factory/store in your town, many buisness's need specific sizes like the restaurant's so their must be a supplier...

dont fear the grain with two holes in the lid one for polyfill and a small hole for the needle it works as well as PF from the inoculation point of view its just the added step of casing that could bring you some of the nasties but not really a big deal if you case with straight verm its even less of a issue
if its all you got use it
as long as you strictly follow some grain tek you will be alright and the yeild is way better too
