They'll fit a 16qt without the rings but only at a weird angle. I have a wide, squat jar I use to allow them to angle down more when I use the 16. Generally run them with LC batches so that everything jives. It's funny you say that about PC water Faht, because I've used PC water a few times in my 30 and 60ml syringes just to reuse water lol. Such a bitch to go to town for water or go to the creek and boil that my PC water goes a loooong way

Yeah I was using a quart with a ship but figured filling them first is quicker and one less opportunity for contam.
It’s amazing how little water 10mls actually is in a jar.

Any idea why these guys are yellow? Don't think I saw any telling bacteria in the substrate.

I’ll second making bigger arm holes and trying pasty plates again. Sure the condensation makes it hard to see through the sides but you can shine a light through the lid and look at the plate through the bottom of the plate. Bacteria is obvious and can be tossed. Mycelium can be difficult to distinguish, but can be done. If you open up a contamed plate in your sab then you should respray and wait a few minutes before working in there again, because if you don’t the spores will most likely make their way onto the next plate since there isn’t anywhere else for them to go
Thanks for the response and thanks Baba Yaga also. I’m going to widen my SAB arms holes. They’re way less than 7 inches. I also stupidly didn’t even think about waiting and respraying after transferring from a contamed agar. I think a lot of the time I had the lids off both the contamed pasty plate and the new one at the same time. It sounds stupid now but at the time I was so focused on getting the scalpel red hot and getting into the SAB without touching anything and then trying to get a clean piece of myc without touching and then getting the dam thing off my scalpel. I know I’ve messed up a bunch of transfers waving my hand around trying to flick the thing off the scalpel. So now I realize I gotta be conscious of the contaminant spores after opening a moldy plate. I think another big part of my problem is being all over the place and disorganized in there. I gotta be more slow and deliberate. Something always seems to go wrong or I didn’t think about something. Trying to open lids that don’t want to open while holding the scalpel I’m trying desperately to keep sterile. I just saw this schmuvbag thing where you put a clear bag on a hepa air purifier. Would that be a good idea for someone at my stage? Or should I really master the SAB because it’s the basics. I did just pick up this rabbit air hepa thing which I’m pretty happy about. I gotta find that thread again hit I think this will work for that shmuvbag thing. I’m pretty happy about my purchase got it for $20 bucks from a neighbors moving sale. Didn’t know anything about it except that it had a hepa filter. I figured it’d be good to clean the air in the room I grow in. But I got home and googled it and they cost like 350. I was able to download a manual and it’s got the negative ion generating feature on top of the hepa and activated carbon filters.

First, you gotta work on condensing your walls down my man, lol. A lot of people will skim over long posts, more eyes means more help.
Second, smoke some weed and have a drink or two when working in the box to slow yourself down and chill out. Just enough to take nerves away but not get you sloppy.
Third, get some magnetic vent covers that will cover your armholes. Cut them in half and super glue one half to the sab and cut out the hole and leave the other intact as a makeshift cover for your armholes. That will allow you to spray iso and cover the armholes back up without introducing anymore contaminants from turbulent air should you need to leave the room or whatever
This is my sab

They were getting soft. I've got these boxes of apes that just grow a bit then get soft without bluing or caps opening. It's weird.

Hey guys! I have a quick question. What causes splitting on the tops of caps? Too dry? Too wet? FAE issue? Something else entirely? This is my second flush on this cake. It's in an unmodified tub using the water chamber tek.

Yo @JXAllen you bastard! You make me wish I started with PF Tek. I’ve only harvested one flush so far and everything else contaminated. Those mushies look real nice. I wouldn’t even complain, but yeah it’d be good to know if it’s just genetics or something you’re doing wrong.
Didn’t see you post for a while I thought you were tripping haha. Good work!
