Good looking mushroom in Vermont, what is it?
    #27491134 - 10/03/21 02:28 PM (2 years, 5 months ago)

I found these growing in my front yard in central Vermont last week. I'm still learning the vocabulary so I would rather let the pictures talk. What do you think these could be? Would it be safe to eat them?

Pretty obvious bluing there. For what it's worth I want to suggest Psilocybe aztecorum.

Good ID suggestion Anglerfish. Looks like P. aztecorum is a likely candidate to me as well. OP, please feel free to post some more pics if more emerge, especially fruitbodies that have not dried out. What was the substrate?

Sorry for the delay. I had shoulder surgery after posting the pictures and was laid up for a couple weeks.
More came up. These emerged from a neglected but once-cultivated front porch garden. The mushrooms are growing under an enormous rhododendron and next to a yew shrub. The substrate is ancient mulch, although this is also where I empty the wood tote I use to haul firewood so there is always a fresh supply of hardwood mulch.
Here are some more pictures. I have about 5g dried and more are coming up. I put a little statue dedicating my garden to Maria Sabina.
What do you think? Safe to eat?

Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata.  Wait for more replies though.
