Was keen to get out into the Peaks yesterday after the week's wet weather. Our usual spots were bristling with libs - some parts were carpeted with them. They were everywhere we looked! The two of us spent about 3 and a half hours picking and managed to bring back ~900g wet, which is more than we picked in the entire season last year. We could have stayed longer and picked even more, but we had other things to get to.
Love the little families of libs!
The most libs in one picture (in situ) we've taken.
A carpet.
That nipple.
Sterile lib.
Dehydrator's currently working overtime!

Hi all,
A bit of advice please…. I’m in possibly the worst place to look for them, it’s very flat and no hills for a long way. But I’ve found a field that has sheep all year, a mixture of long and short grass, and the last few days has been holding a lot of moisture.
I had a look this morning and there were a lot of dung Roundheads, milky cone caps, waxcaps, pans etc but no libs.
My question is, if the field is great for all the other shrooms does it mean there’s a good chance of finding libs there?
I’m not sure they even grow at this low elevation to be honest, I’m not feeling very hopeful of finding any.

Finally had some luck after the long rain, 72 grams wet. Altitude about 450 meters in the south west. Was out for about 7 hours, most found one in spot on bottom slope of a hill

I have found them in a field at sea level near the coast before. It's not my ideal hunting location, but, they CAN grow there. I think the substrate may be more important than the elevation.

Anyone frequently down at South Wales that knows best time for hunting? I've done 3 trips in a row now and found no libs, just lookalikes and non edibles.. would be cool to know what month/day mostly brings libs as I have a bit of a drive.. thanks.

It’s certainly a good sign if there’s other mushrooms in the field. My rule of thumb is temps no higher than 15° in the daytime and 10° at night. Go after there’s been rain, not too early in the morning. The southeast is less productive than the north and west unfortunately, but they do grow in places. Possibly better to check on here for reports of good finds in the southeast before heading out, depends how busy you are, a walk in the countryside is always worthwhile, libs or not. Good luck!

Lol, I’m new to the world of mushrooms, I wanted to make sure that they were all lib caps. If there was one that wasn’t I was hoping that someone would be kind enough to tell me by responding with a number 1-9 👍
