Got a ton of plates across multiple cultures that are starting to look like this.  I'm thinking this is what it looks like when a mold has gotten embedded into the myc to the point where I need to trash them and start again.  I know not all good myc growth has to be rhyzo, but these don't even look like healthy tomentose growth to me.  Any thoughts?

Been battling some type of subtle mold for the better part of six months now.  Frustrating.

Been battling that too.  I reckon it is bacteria causing the myc to grow funny, making it look like mold.

I've finally got round to trying some jars with a little layer of brf+verm, or in my case home blended brown rice and coir mixed to field capacity and in the PC to sterilise. Waiting for supplies to arrive for brf+verm.

So there's 8 jars:
2x small rice size wedge from myc on agar
2x josex poke from myc on agar
2x spores from print direct
2x drop or two from syringe made from a print

The wedges are taking off already, so fingers crossed they will spread on top of the cake and leave behind the bacteria.

Constant agar transfers were getting me nowhere. If this works then..:awedance:

Did you change your agar recipe? Maybe too many nutes

I set this jar aside a week ago because it has what I believe to be yeast contamination, based on other pictures I've looked at. Well, I decided to take a look at it today before deciding if I should chuck it and it's pinning!

So, here are my questions....how bad is yeast? Can I still try and top fruit the jar? If I top fruit, I rinse out the verm layer and fill it back with CVG, correct? Should I add any water or would that just flush the yeast all over?

I have 12 of these bags and some of them are starting to turn blue. Was going to break and shake but think that might make it worse. People on Reddit are telling me it’s not contamination if it’s blue but I’m quickly learning people on Reddit are generally fucking morons. I got even more suspicious when I read this thread and saw that the way the mycelium forms can be telling of contamination as well. These 2 are the worst but there’s a couple more, was going to break and shake this weekend but thinking these just need to be tossed. Would like some opinions, the strain is cubensis b+ and I inoculated on 9/6

I would definitely shake and see how they go. Can't see in the pics but don't look terrible.

There's no obvious contam I can see from the pictures, I would shake, let fully colonize, and then introduce fruiting conditions. You'll probably get fruits if you let it do it's thang!

All the following pics are cultivated from the same syringe of JMF. Three different shoe boxes. No signs of contamination otherwise. Are they ok?

maybe they need a little more FAE? they look very lanky (unless theyre supposed to look like that) and that one in the back in the last pic has fuzz all the way up the stem.

My only concern about FAE is the humidity getting too low for fruiting.

This was a great help thank you! I have an agar plate that I put a piece of wild turkey tail on from the inside of the mushroom to avoid contamination.  And after two weeks I am starting to see a white slimy texture grow from it. Doesn’t match any of the contaminates posted above but it doesn’t really seem like mycelium. Can someone help me figure out if I have turkey tail growing or some weird contaminate?
