Sweet I’ll check em out! It’s for gourmets, would 3 disk not be enough? (1200ml/h, as there is a 240ml/h option too)

Would 5 disc be much better?

You don't necessarily need to order your prefilter through a specialist manufacturer like that, we typically just use "furnace filters" from a big box store that are designed for central air conditioners. Perhaps your country doesn't have common AC systems though.

F7-F9 filters are the same thing as our high quality "allergen Type" furnace filtes, https://www.emw.de/en/filter-campus/filter-classes.html Looks like F7 would be 80% 0.4micron and F8 90% and F9 95%

Ask them if they offer a washable prefilter in the F7 level. I would get a washable prefilter as good as they can offer and go with that. Ask them for static pressure information if you want to be accurate with your fan.

I think G4 would be OK for you, maybe 2 layers of it. My commercial hood utilizes 2 layers of washable pre-filters.

Two layers so it's the 96mm one then.
How much inwg would that raise?

I'm very confused by all the numbers. I just roughly know my HEPA filter a, b or c -hepafilter (depending on which one I pick) requires inwg of roughly 1.0 and pre-filter requires +0,1-0,3inwg. (according to DIY mycology-guys on Youtube.)

Now when I try to understand the numbers of any of those sheets, I'm just baffled.

I know I need 100CFM out and with my specs (12*24) 200CFM from the blower fan. Assuming the total inwg would be 1.3, I'd need the CFM to be 1.3inwg in 200CFM. But that's calculated by rough numbers. I'd rather understand a bit more.

12x24 is so tiny.

90 fpm is the target actually, but anyway

SC = standard capacity go for those.

This is going to be confusing because there are mixed units but bear with me lol

12x24 standard capacity filter shows 445 CMH @ 250 Pa = 261 CFM @ 1" wg

when accounting for the size of the frame = 0.375 sq feet total filter area = 1.625 sq ft

1.625 sq ft @  261 cfm = 160 fpm test speed.

So the filters are 1" @ 160 fpm, a ratio calculation shows this 0.56" @ 90 fpm. (1:160::x:90 x=0.56)

And this checks out, every 6" 99.99% hepa I see is about 0.6" static pressure at 90fpm.

Then add 0.2" for prefilter (prefilters are generally rated for 300 fpm going through them and range from 0.15-0.22)

So you want a blower that can move 146 cfm @ 0.8" static pressure. (1.625 x 90 = 146) to be on the money, or one that can move more than this and choke it down by blocking the intake.

Birthday present from my girl. AIE-305HIM.
:vibin:

Immediately mixed up some casing, sealed the bag for pasteurizing, then sealed the bag of jiffy that always ends up fucking everywhere.

It seems like for myco bags, setting heat time and cool time to max works best on the 305 models

I found a poly propylene 2 1/2 gallon bucket that just fits inside my presto 23 quart. The bucket will hold 10 pounds of substrate or other compost.
I can add as much water as I like and sterilize for an extended period of time without worrying about a thing now hopefully I can get hundreds of uses out of it.
I plan to figure out how to add a filter for gas exchange.
Three or four of those syringe filters would probably do it through holes in the lid . the bucket seals tight enough I filled it half full of water and tipped it on its side and none leaked
The sides are tapered so a colonized  substrate block could be easily removed.

Just in case it is not clear: A pre-filter is to keep LARGE particles from having to go through your HEPA filter. It allows the HEPA filter to just clean air instead of larger/heavier particles.

Get an air filter from your local hardware store like one of these:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Honeywell-16-x-20-x-1-Superior-Allergen-Pleated-MERV-11-FPR-9-Air-Filter-90901-011620/203145824

The size of the pre-filter just needs to be the correct size (which they come in every single reasonable dimension) to mount on the spot where the motor is pulling the air into the hood from.

You can pick up a pre-filter for as low as $10 if you house the motor to accommodate it. Doesn't need to be any specific type just something to keep heavy shit from getting to the HEPA (in my case I need one for things like dog hair or dust - things you can see and a bit smaller).

Ordered mine today after heavily debating ordering one on eBay from China. Ended up reading horror stories of either stupidly high hidden shipping costs, or a lot of companies doing dodgy business.. you either get some piece of crap that wasn’t good enough for normal sale, or you get the completely wrong item and have to pay outrageous return fees to get your money back. I’d also rather be backed by some kind of warranty and not worry about it being a decent piece of kit or not so I ordered direct from a solid lab supplier. I phoned them immediately after ordering to ask if they could get it to me tomorrow, the lady on the phone contacted the warehouse, she got back to me to say they had one left in stock and even used a different courier than they state on their website in order to get it delivered to me next day. Can’t complain. Still I also want mine yesterday lol, hella impatient.

Made an agar transfer punch with a spring-loaded plunger in case the agar plug comes out with the punch. The punch tube is made from super thin-walled (0.005") stainless steel tubing and the plunger rod is stainless steel as well so they can be torched to sterilize.

Time to get some more cats on the scene.

Was it you with that picture of the greenhouse full of torn up blocks from rats??  It’s pretty scary how they can manage to get anywhere and into just about anything if they want too.
