    #2747743 - 05/30/04 09:47 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Anybody ever seen this DVD?

I was talking to my friend on the phone and his roommate came through the door with a DVD called "The Best Of Hunter S. Thompson". It starts out with Hunter on "The Conan O'Brien Show". Here's the website............

See Hunter S. Thompson at his gonzo best on Late Night with Conan O?Brien; Late Night with David Letterman; The Charlie Rose Show; Prime Time Live; C-Span; George McGovern Tribute; The Crazy Never Die; Interviewing Keith Richards for ABC TV; and much, much more thanks to this AMAZING 2 hour plus DVD collection!

It's probably pretty cool. It's expensive though. It's $20 and i'm not sure that that's including shipping. I'd love to see it.

"Most people come around the front, but you have your own style"

Haha, that was by far the best guest appearance of anyone on any show. He needed a couple people to guide him out on stage, then he walked behind the seats and had to move one to get through. It was great. That, and his illegal nike shoe production

He was definitely drunk, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was also on some hallucinogen or something. The smile he has looks exactly like when you try to hide a smile on a psychedelic.

 I know exactly what you're talking about.

Hold up folks, I just found the rest of the videos on this site. THIS IS GREAT STUFF!  Click here...........

The American Dreamer
Dennis Hopper's rare post-"Easy Rider" documentary. I've been looking for this.

Lots of rare Andy Kaufman

C.H.I.P.S. freeze frame video.
This is a video of all the freeze frame endings from C.H.I.P.S.??

The Dinah Shore Portal To Hell.
Lots of celebrities singing badly and giving crazy interviews. Supposedly has James Brown "babbling in a PCP fueled haze, Richard Pryor in an interview going nowhere just moments after snorting an 8-ball for lunch on the set of Stir Crazy, Sly Stone whacked out of his mind on LSD on the Dick Cavet show".

Future Shock
"mid 70?s "Soul Train" rip off was produced and hosted by a maniacal James Brown at what appears to be the height of his PCP, sweat through his suit days."

God's Angry Man
Crazy yelling preacher.

Hallucination Generation
60's anti-psychedelic propaganda film. I'd LOVE to see this.

Heavens Gate
Tape made by the Heavens Gate cult

MrT: Be Somebody, Or Be Somebody's Fool
Educational film hosted by Mr. T from 1984. That's gotta be good.

Rock? It's Your Decision
Christian anti-rock documentary. Damn I want to see that.

Teen Suicide/Nutrition
" Apparently someone thought the best way to capture the interest of the after school special crowd was to have Haywood Nelson a.k.a. Dwayne Nelson from TV's What's Happening talk to Herv? Villechaize a.k.a. Tattoo from TV's Fantasy Island about his many attempted suicides and how he learned to love life. The irony of this is the fact that Herv? did finally commit suicide some 10 years after appearing on this show."

Underground
Documentary about The Weather Underground who broke Timothy Leary out of prison. Filmed while they were still active!

Wadd: The Life And Times Of John Holmes
This looks interesting

Here's another page of documenarys. Such as.........

Che!
Omar Sheriff as Che and Jack Palance as Fidel Castro!!

Dirk Diggler Story
Made by the director of "Boogie Nights" when he was 17.

Garbage Pail Kids
The movie??

The Gospel Road
"The story of Jesus told and sung by Johnny Cash."

J.C.
Jesus as a biker

Killdozer
Bulldozer that kills people???

Once Apon A Girl
Cartoon porno directed by the guy who directed G.I. Joe and staring the town drunk from "Andy Griffith"

Private Pleasures Of John Holmes
John Holmes only gay movie

Skidoo
"The absolutely incredible counter culture classic Skidoo, directed by legendary director Otto Preminger! See an incarcerated Jackie Gleason take LSD and FREAK OUT! See Groucho Marx play a rich drug dealer named God who smokes joints instead of cigars! Watch such stars as Cesar Romero, Burgess Meredith, Mickey Rooney, Frank Gorshin, Frankie Avalon, Carol Channing and John Phillip Law drive their careers even farther into the ground!! This film has it all: singing and dancing trash cans, drugs, psychedelic insanity, an amazingly tight close up of a rapidly changing TV set, and, you guessed it, more, more, more!!"

Foreign films is the last page of movies.

Man, I just don't have enough money. I want to get all of these that i've listed and more. FUCK!

The Last True American if you ask me.... A true hero has departed the land of the living, meh.

Hunter Thompson has a hero of mine but I'm sure not to many others....Hopefully he's somewhere nice, Everlasting bottle of rum and the finest nuggs and smokes at this side.

I'm just shocked, I don't understand suicide and have a hard time respecting people who make that choice which makes it a million times harder when someone whom I respect and look up to chooses to take that as a way out.

Yeah I agree. Maybe he learned that he was terminally ill and was gonna die soon anyways. But still....

I'm kinda disturbed by the whole thing and I think this incident is gonna change the way I feel about his writing (having only read Fear and Loathing and Rum Diary I have a long way to go).

Why won't his words hold weight anymore? Why will lose their wit, charm, humor, satire? Because you think suicide is a cop out, but you weren't in his position, you weren't seeing things from his perspective, and you certainly don't know what his situation was like. You don't have to respect the person who commits suicide, but you must respect their ability to make that choice. Personally, I disagree with suicide and would never commit it myself, but to say it is wrong for everyone is assinine; just like pro-life people saying all abortions are wrong. I think discreditting his work just because he committed suicide is the cop out.
