Spotted some caerulescens today in a usual spot.  It's been a near constant rain drizzle since last night and temps 66-72, so i'm hoping tomorrow will be even better.  I should be back with pics!

Really had to hunt for these. I didn't see a point to harvest those old ones but you can see here the babies coming soon! Oh and look how blue these things get!

I have fair belief that lots of "weilii wanderers" dont make a find in their first year. I haven't even found one myself, and I'm sure to be hitting the 50 hour hunting mark soon lol. Last year was easy mode due to record amounts of rainfall. People like evly and nitro have their patches mostly figured out and i'm sure its enough to make anyone here feel like a newbie.

This year seems to be different so far, less rain, patches have relocated themselves, etc. However this week is lots of rain and cooling temps. Don't give up just yet.

Disturbed ground aged 2+ years seems to be the key here. Along with sloped surfaces. Dont bother going anywhere if you cant confirm its "disturbance". (cough google earth cough) Go 2-4 days after rain. Grassy boys pop first and dont get large, woodland ones pop last and are larger. Find a weeping widow? Keep visiting where it is

Just summarizing some of the things I see on here. Hope it helps. Good luck if youre going out this weekend 👍

I firmly believe this is all psychoactive mushrooms. I found my pan cyans by accident, caerulescens by accident, and my cubensis by accident. Found fuck all looking for them until I gave up

For the most part I agree here.

Found gymns first which I had no idea were actives.i was just trying to id a cool looking mushroom. Found cubes next by accident and during the Shroomery outage of 2019. Was actively hunting for caerulescens the rest of that season with no luck and then one day at a spot I'd checked once a week all season I found them at the end of the season. And it was just because I liked walking in that park anyway.  Since then the other caerulescens, pan cincts, more cubes, and now cyanescens have all been wishfully accidental.

The only ones I found by accident were the tampanensis.  While picking caerulescens in a known area.  When I first found some caerulescens with a buddy ofmine at a spot he knew of. Once I seen those, I knew it was the same ones I seen on the powerlines.

I've found some actives over the years living here and in different places across the country, but none so elusive as this type.

What's puzzling to me is, 4+ years of hunting 10-20 hour weeks *(during season provided conditions are right) with everything but carulescens turning up has got to be some sort of statistical anomaly at this point.

The mushrooms do find you to a degree in my experience, but the other 50% of the bargain is the human intent and legwork of hunting.

I may be new to caerulescens, having never found them, but I'm not new to hunting actives. This one just seems to be a real hider in my experience.

While I haven’t found any by accident, there’s obv some degree of luck involved since not every ideal habitat will have them.
Here’s one I just found this morning. It’s a good example of how hidden they can be at times

There are others thatve put in years and come up empty handed, but I think you are a bit of an outlier with the shear amount of hours. Have you expanded your search outside a few of the same spots? Shoot me a pm dude

See that's spot on for some of the habitats I hunt.. maybe I have crossed paths with them but didn't look deep enough.

I run at a large nature preserve in Cobb pretty much everyday and sometimes stop and search there because of the ideal habitat, but that's one of the only places I've repeatedly looked over the years.

Mostly I keep it fresh locations, hunting semi recent neighborhoods/developments and their wooded boarders, or parks with pines/golf courses/slopes, walking my dog for cover while looking lol.

If anyone has a hankering for chanterelles there's quite a few poppin spots right now, that and some reishi are my only real finds this month though.

I really appreciate you guys

That all sounds like pretty good hunting grounds to me.

Few gym clusters from this morning as well

One thing with them, is they are very very good at camoflaguing themselves and blending in with the grasses/acorns/sweetgum balls.  Especially taller grasses youll need to get on your knees and sift through the grasses

Thanks mane. Yeah I'm waiting for you or anyone else to get some pans too! These things are awesome. I feel fortunate to have them naturally. I didn't expect to either which makes it better imo.

Found a decent amount earlier today. Only 15 hours since the ones yesterday. Some other pan species is growing too from the same patties. Makes it a little more difficult. The other ones are darker and have a redish stipe. You can see some in the back of this cluster if you look hard enough.
