The quote you're talking about has to do with "essential liberty" which is different from having the freedom to disrupt public order with bad decision making that endangers everyone's freedom and safety. Ben franklin would have to invent a machine to slap some reason into your face if he heard you butchering his quote and misunderstanding it's meaning.

Might be wise for people to consider getting the flu vaccine this year. Could be a really bad season, almost no one has fresh antibodies from natural infections last year so in theory it could spread like wildfire and pack a punch. The very small risk of catching Covid alongside with the flu is worth thinking about. I know 2 people who got both at the same time last March (both previously healthy and in their 20’s/30’s, both caught it at the same time/place) and they were both hospitalized and are still mildly to moderately fucked up, 1.5 years later.

I honestly keep forgetting how bad it still is in some parts of the country. I’m going through orientation in a new hospital and the amount of times I’ve heard someone say “back during Covid” when talking about different policies is pretty crazy. We’re just not seeing much Covid at all lately with like 99% of the elderly in the state being vaxxed and most of the younger people too.

Biden is restricting access to monoclonal antibody supplies to the mid-west & south, lol.
Not because of a lack of supply, but for entirely political reasons. Which is pretty fucked up, because this is a move that could easily cause thousands of extra preventable & totally unnecessary deaths. And with vaccinated people catching Covid, they need antibodies too, so it's not like this only affects unvaccinated people. It affects *everyone* in these states that catches Covid, whether unvaccinated or not.
The US Government is now sanctioning its own people just like it would people of Iran, Syria, etc. How many people will die because of it? Absolute madness, and this sets a dangerous precedent.
But I'm sure you guys will cheer it on because you love it when people in red states die. Am I right guys? Bunch of hypocrites.

Vaccinated people are far less likely to get seriously sick from COVID than unvaccinated people, thus not attributing to clogging up the hospitals.
Everyone needs to get vaccinated and then not as many people will need the monoclonal antibodies.
A lot of the states you mention have been using a majority of the supply of the monoclonal antibodies and have low vaccination rates...

My province opened too early, wouldn't admit they made a mistake and now is less than 10 days from running out of ICU beds and staff, and neighbor provinces told us to fuck off. You can't change the numbers for 10 days from now, those infections already happened. We finally announced a vax passport after new regulations targeting everyone (not just the unvaxxed) made everyone mad.

The parents of my friend who almost died from covid earlier this year now both have it. They're in their late 70s, but are both vaccinated.
Her hatred of the anti-maskers/anti-vaxers is impressive and justified.

At first the whole healthcare hero shit was really motivating but now tbh we aren't even worried about getting covid cuz we are mostly healthy vaccinated youngish people so it isn't a super heroic feeling. That feeling... A new word might be needed to adequately capture it...a mixture of disappointment and negative vindication, if that makes sense?
