Billing question regarding switching ISPs from Spectrum to Google Fiber

I moved into a new apartment a month and a half ago. The apartment complex gave me a number to their Spectrum representative and I called them and agreed to pay $35 a month for internet. The internet was okay for the first month, but the last couple of weeks the internet has been HORRIBLE. It drops at least five times a day and stays offline between a couple of minutes up to several hours each time. I called and set up Google Fiber yesterday and my new equipment will arrive tomorrow.
So, regarding Spectrum, I was never emailed or sent anything in writing that confirmed my deal I made with them. I haven't payed them anything yet. They sent me a bill and honestly I don't want to pay it because I'm switching over to Google Fiber and the service I've gotten from Spectrum has been embarrassing. I want to just simply ignore their bills and have them cancel my internet on their own time. Is there any way doing that could negatively effect my credit? I don't see how it could since I never got anything in writing. Thoughts?

Yes they will hit your credit if you do nothing. Just because they haven't sent you anything doesn't absolve you of the debt you rang up with them for service.
How did you sign up for service with them?
I would call them and say you are canceling under the 30 day new customer guarantee.

Write down the reps name, time and date of call and ask for confirmation of your cancelation in writing.

I had a feeling that would be the case, unfortunately. I signed up for service with them via a phone call with my apartment complex's Spectrum representative. I set up the Spectrum service at the very end of July, so it's definitely been over 30 days since then, so I doubt that 30-day new customer guarantee will work for me. I for sure will write down all the info from the customer service call I will have to make soon.

You should still try to invoke the guarantee and explain you first had a billing issue and tried to give them a chance to make it right. Try to be patient and polite, remember the customer service rep is not the company and don't take it out on them. Make them an ally and you are more likely to get a good result.
