First time experimenting resulting in potential contamination
    #27468715 - 09/14/21 09:48 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

I have some Huatula That started making an orange fuzz inside the sealed all in one grow back. I Thought it was metabolites but its grown and now seems to have slowed as  they are growing. I assume  their bad and im gonna chuck em but I just want to know what kind of mold it is and learn from there.

Neat.
Couldnt tell ya what kind of mold it is. Not my field of knowledge lol. Looks cool though. I really want to try making agar art sometime with different colored and textured molds like that. Ive seen some pics of others who have done it and its super cool.

Well, that's mold, man. If you see something that looks like dust it's almost certainly the mold spores.

I would like to know specifically what kind it is for  future reference. It hasnt hindered the mushrooms from growing but i would like to be able to warn people in the future with more knowledge then "mold bad no no" what species is it? how does it grown? what are its issues?

There are 1000s of molds out there.

We just avoid them, cataloging them is another field of study.

Slime mold is a totally different sort of organism from true molds. It's a protist, not a fungus. Not a very common contaminant.

It's not possible to ID this. It is uncommon though. Uncommon stuff is where you get space AIDS.
