Favorite/best potting soil?

I'm curious to hear what works for you all. I've found vast differences in quality and it matters a lot.
For most stuff I find Scott's topsoil to be the best. It's because they add native soil to it, meaning you already start off with some of the right bacteria. There's a warning on the bag that says to not use it for indoor plants, of course I ignore this.

In parts:
Most cactus and plants: (1) scoop of top soil I scrap and sift from the forest floor, (1) scoop of vermiculite, (2) scoops of coco-coir. I include varying amounts of local creek gravel screened with a half inch mesh. Varying amounts of amendments like cow manure, greensand, etc, if I have them on hand.
If potting desert cactus, I include varying amounts of local creek sand screened with a half inch mesh.
Next year, I intend to try BM6 potting mix from Berger since it works great for annuals. Although I may need to add lime to it to correct the PH for Trichocereus. It's more expensive than my own mixing but possibly more effective. This is a commercial potting mix for nursery businesses and I know of one other that uses it.

This is a great idea! You're collecting the fresh native soil yourself. I have to try that.

What PH do you aim for? Do you use one of those soil testers?

Nope, I don't PH test but I do know my local soil is very alkaline. The BM6 is allegedly acidic.

I get Fox Farm Happy Frog by the pallet (60 bags of 2 cubic feet) and use it for everything I grow. Depending on the soil conditions needed, it will be amended accordingly. I usually screen it down to half inch to remove bark and debris.

Ocean Forest is often recommended, usually with additional pumice added.

I'm in Oz so don't know all the brands. It's not hard. I buy the cheapest crappyist potting mix and add some small river pebbles, a handful of sand and 20% perlite? . Works for me.

Once they take off, ( growth pups roots) I whack them in improved sand soil in the ground. Give them worm juice and water. You can watch them grow. Love it. HOD
