Dehydrating mushrooms on longer foraging trips

Anyone have any good methods for dealing with shroom scores while on the road. I was looking into getting a portable electric generator that can be charged via solar or electric power supply to run my dehydrator.
Last year on a trip to PNW I scored Porcini and Psilocybe azurescens. The Azzie's got dry enough via dashboard defrost heat but def lost some potency however some of the Boletes went bad before I got back.
Recently I was on a trip to the southwest USA where I scored Boletes and Lobster mushrooms I was able to cut thin and dry on paper in the back of my truck driving through the desert however in the wet ass PNW thats not an option.
Either way on my next mushroom trip to PNW I'm planning on bringing my dehydrator and if I score either stop at a friends house to dehydrate or rent a motel room for a night (although I'd rather not pay for a rm)

That specific link I sent is just the first one I found online that looks similar to the one I have. Not sure about the wattage of mine but I can go check later today. But yeah Ive used it a bunch for my dehydrator when I was traveling in my van. It worked great! However, I tried to only use it when I was actually driving cause I was worried I would kill my car battery.

If you put them in front of a portable fan, they will be dry by the end of the day.

And you’ll have a fan for if it gets too hot in the car too. A dehydrator can’t do that, now can it?

Maybe you can dry out a very small amount of cyans in front of a fan, but good luck trying that out with a decent haul or with any porcini. Get an actual dehydrator. And you’ll have a heater if it gets too cold in the car. A fan can’t do that now can it?

I ended up purchasing this to run my dehydrator on. Will only run it while driving as stated above to avoid draining the car battery. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KJ184NJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm headed on a foraging camping trip mid November. I'll report back on how it works (thats fingers crossed that I score some big ass boletes to dehydrate)

I've had success with desiccant. I use 2 Tupperware containers. One container needs to fit inside of the other with space at the top (a shallow one inside of a deeper one). I put a good bunch of desiccant in the larger container and mushrooms in the smaller container. Then I put the smaller container (not sealed) inside of the larger container and then I seal the larger container. You just have to make sure there's some room between the to of the mushroom container and the lid of the desiccant container.

Dessicants sure as hell won't work for boletes.
Hey Chuck, how did the hunting go??

The trip went great! Unfortunately no porcini this year, from talking to other hunters it sounded like the big flushes came early following the early big storms. My trip was shorted too due to obligations on both ends compressing the window I had. In the middle of the trip I visited friends in Portland and used my dehydrator in their house for the Psilocybe mushrooms I found. Hence, I never even tried the power inverter I bought for the trip (I’m still nervous it’s going to thrash my car battery)
One Liberty cap

Lots of pelliculosa

Some azurescens

Matsutake

Tons of yellow feet

And lastly lots of chanterelles

Nice finds!! Still need to take a trip up north to find libs and azzies! (I know libs are somewhere around me and I have looked quite a bit but no luck yet…)
But bummer on no porcini. I’ve had a decent bolete year, in fact just found a couple yesterday. Plenty of ones that were too gross to eat but just fine to dry. Pm me if ya want some I’ll send some your way!

Dude super kind of you to offer. My porcini season near San Francisco has just started so I’m good, but really appreciate your generosity. I got a few yesterday actually! I’m just a freak like y’all on here and go nuts when I can pick a porcini and an azurescens within eye shot of each other.
Libs really intrigue me I really want to find them in abundance…that little one was the first and only I’ve ever found. The tough part for me is finding land that is legal to hunt on, most of what I see is private property and I have not seen owners to ask permission. A few years ago I didn’t care but now I’m more in conflict and risk averse and pass on a lot of prime spots.
Actually I’m kinda annoyed with how risk averse I’ve gotten but my lively hood depends on it so I guess I’m validated but also smh at myself. Never used to give a fuk.
