This is mycelium right?
    #27461141 - 09/09/21 12:09 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Hello shroomers.
Just a quick little post here asking for your input. I am very new to the hobby of mycology and haven't had a successful grow yet, however I have done a fair bit of grain work "a couple botched grain2grain transfers and a couple successful multi spore injections)
So I recently dumped a dozen jars of botched B++ mycelium and decided to knock up a couple half pint jars I had laying around while I wait for more agar supplies to get here. I injected 6 jars total, 3 with Pe#6 and 3 with B++. one of the B++ jars had the lid fall off outside of my SAB because I didn't tighten the lid enough and so I sanitized it and put it back on. fast forward about 2 weeks and none of the jars have changed at all besides the jar that had the lid fall off. the minute the lid fell off I kind of wrote it off as a goner but kept it around just to see what would happen and it seems to be growing fairly healthy mycelium which confuses me because of the lid situation. There is a bit of weird brown slimy color situation going on towards the bottom where the first 2 inoculation points are and part of my noobie brain wants to just say its a piece of grain being broken down or something, but the larger top cluster seems to be doing great. My current plan is to take some of this and put it to agar to see if I can clean it up and make more jars.

My question to you guys is...is this mycelium or am I trippin, and also are the bottom colored bits something to worry about or is the whole jar good.

Yes and yes. Do that.
If you shake this, theres a possibility it wont bounce back to life. just take a couple of grains as is and use that to inoculate a couple of plates. Youd be back on track in no time.

That sounds like a plan! My agar should be here in a few days (damn Amazon shipping) hahah. Once it gets here I’ll cook up some plates and get a few transfers going :grin:
