First Grow, pftek and mono

I will be starting my first grow in the coming weeks. I have been researching the proper procedure and have some questions. I am going to conduct two grows: a pftek and a mono. For the mono I am using 2 quart presterilized rye berry grow bags and for the pftek presterilized half pint wide mouth jars with grain spawn.
For the spawning process I understand that environmental conditions are not as important as once thought. As long as the temperature is in the range of 70F to 80F the spawning will go nicely.
I plan to colocatate the jars and bags in a plastic tub for the spawning. This is merely a convenience and to prevent unecessary exposure to contaminants. However, how important is it that the area be sterile? I plan to place the tub in the corner of my bedroom.
PFTek after spawn I am following this guide: http://www.fungifun.org/English/Pftek After spawning the pftek I plan to place the cakes in another tub, this time with a loose plastic bag covering the top. In regard to misting, how important is it that the cakes are not sprayed directly? Water droplets are bound to hit the cake in such a small container.
Mono I am following this guide: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14722933#14722933 Are mono tubs more susceptable to contamination than the cake method? I am particularly confused with this process. The rye berry bags, after colonization, are to be opened and mixed with substrate in the tubs? It is stated that a 1:10 spawn to substrate ratio is most desirable. Is a 66 quart tub adequately sized to achieve a 4 inch depth with 22 quarts of material? How important is a sterile environment during this stage?
I understand that the stage after mixing substrate and spawn is called the consolidation stage. This will take approximately 10 days?
Once this is complete I will polyfill (fiber fill in stuffed animals?) the holes and it is stated to fan and mist as needed. Again, how can I mist when water droplets will obviously get on the material? How important is sterility at this stage?
Misting/Fanning frequency Once the fruiting stage has begun I will be able to mist at least twice a day. Once in the morning (~9AM) and once in the afternoon (~4-8PM). I can also do a potential third mist at ~11PM. It is likely that at least one weekend during this phase I will be out of town. How detrimental will it be for the tubs to be unmisted for ~3days? Is this an adequate misting procedure for both the PFTEK and mono?
Location My primary concern is that the environment will not be sterile enough throughout the process. I plan to locate the tubs for all stages in the corner of my bedroom next to a window. How will this effect me? Will my room smell badly from the mushrooms? Alternative locations: > walk in closet right next to bathroom door, highly indirect sunlight > walk in closet, fairly clean, no direct sunlight, personally not ideal
Concluding remarks I would appreciate any remarks or warnings and suggestions for alternative procedures. I'll be sure to maintain this thread with my progress.

In regards to PF Tek the only time I've had issues with contam is during inoculation. Once the jars are fully colonized they're very resilient to molds, etc.
As for smell I don't remember noticing much from cubes. I grew oyster mushrooms open air in my living room that eventually started producing a slight fishy odor but PF Tek cubes weren't foul smelling at all whatsoever.
I don't want to comment too much on bulk/mono grows because my first attempt was a flop. I used a premade mix containing mannure so that of course didn't smell great. The mushrooms/cakes themselves don't smell bad though.
Edited to add: I'm pretty new to the hobby myself take my notes with a grain of salt. I'm on my fourth grow currently. Good luck buddy!
