New to shroomin and confused...
    #2745475 - 05/30/04 01:31 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

This is my first actual post to this message board but i have read posts from it for about a month now to gather all possible info.
I live in Georgia around the athens area and after we got some really good rain a week ago, me and two friends went into 3 cow fields looking for some shrooms (pretty much trying to find any kind to practice identification, not to eat). There was plenty of cow manure but not one single shroom ANYWHERE! I came back to this site to find any possible info on how to better my chances of finding them. Then, 2 days ago it rained once more and this afternoon i went out looking and again found nothing... I cant figure out any possible reason for this situation to be occuring...
The only shrooms i have found were in my front lawn where we have a horse pasture. They were small white to golden mushrooms with long stems so i picked them and after making sure there were no poisonous look alikes i ate them after narrowing them down to two species which i did not write down the names. One of the two possibilities said that they werent hallucinagenic so it must have been them...So now i have those counted out for looking there again...

As for my first confusion with the cow fields, does anybody here know what i might possibly be doing wrong??

I have properly identified the ones i found in the horse pasture as Panaeolus antillarum (Non-hallucinagenic!) This is a major bummer because these were the first mushrooms that i have ever found...
