Lophophora emergency
    #2745102 - 05/29/04 09:43 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

This post is in behalf of fireworks_god, he can't seem to post at the moment due to technical difficulties...

This cacti was perfectly healthy no more than a week ago:

Anyone have any idea what that hole it has suddenly developed there is, and what could be done to correct the problem?  It came in the mail from Norway about a week ago, but it was perfectly healthy for some time before it was sent.  He said it looks dark brown in colour, almost like the skin has been chewed off..or burnt..or something.  It was fine for about two days when it arrived back home, then all of the sudden..this happens.

Any ideas?

Looks like a bug of some sort got to it, but I could be wrong.

is it soft or has it hardened. Is the flesh around it hard or softened too? If it's soft, i'd get a scalpel and dig it out and let it callous over as a wound.

there are some parasites that make such craters inside your loph before they leave but it's usually no big deal if it callous up ok...
