Have you ever seen oysters fruiting from 1/4" holes from buckets? They can fruit prolifically from a very small surface area.

It's good dude I've had a few issues with my solar that have caused a couple hiccups but other than that it's been pretty sweet. Just put 50 lions mane blocks in there, 50 blue oyster blocks, and about to noc up another 50 black pearl blocks today and make 5 blue oyster traw logs if I have time.
Gotta go prep and sterilize another 50 blocks for some shiitake spawn I have ready and then I'll be ready to fuckin roll
Everyday is either sub prep or grain work nowadays... fuckin love it

Hell yeah!
I love black pearl.
How many blocks can you fit in there?

The shelves are wide enough to fit 2 blocks side by side and long enough to fit ~30 blocks per row. 60 blocks per shelf at 6 shelves is 360 blocks, but I think I can stack blocks and fit twice that. Then I can fit 6 straw logs hanging with 3 ft between each log. Putting 200 blocks in total this round.
Gonna try and set up some tunnels next spring to try to do reishi in ground. Think it would be dope. Some lions mane pics from my test run. The fact that the LM has nice teeth and a tight ball tells me it's decently dialed in

Sweet.
How heavy are those bags, Nate? They look pretty compact.

Local gourmet farm near me. The owner knows absolutely nothing about sterile technique. The person who does lab work has zero background in mycology or any sort of sterile tek. They use an alcohol wiped scoop to scoop spawn into sterilized blocks.
Owners convinced that wiping the scoop with "copious amounts of alcohol" is sufficient to sterilize it between each scoop. I tried to explain the difference between sanitization and sterilization to the owner.
I had to tell them that 91% iso isn't as effective as 70%...
The person doing sterile work also reaches over the spawn bag (they buy from Earth angel and Maine cap n stem) between each scoop effectively contaminating a once clean spawn bag after the first scoop. They expand each bag of spawn to ~30 blocks.
I suspect 99% of their issues are lab work and i've been trying to highlight this for the owner over the last few months with ultimately no changes being made.
This is a huge operation, capable to produce 3600# or more a week with their equipment and space. Yet they're at about 1400# per week last I asked. They must throw away 60% or more of their blocks. Walking through the incubation room is a nightmare. So much green. Also, the lions mane looks like a blob.

You should tell him to let you run 10% of his space and if you can increase productivity of that 10% by 50% he has to give you half of everything above his typical output from the whole op.
If you don’t you’ll work part time for six months or something.
Zero chance hell do it but it would be a great deal for him.
Either free labor or he stop wasting a ton of time and materials forever.
Then when he turns you down you should take those moldy bag pictures to his customers and offer to sell them clean mushrooms at the same price. Then you get all the benefits of him doing the hard part building the business because he’s lazy and or ignorant.

It really shocks me that someone can find and use this much space and let that much of it go to complete waste. Literally throwing money and efficiency down the drain. Tragic.

I think the rent is like $12,000 a month. It's mind blowing how the owner of the business probably couldn't do an agar transfer if his life depended on it.
Aka I like that idea. I don't think he would bend but I did offer help if he can manage to get a horizontal flow hood. I don't like the vertical ones as much and I think free pouring is easier with horizontal hoods. Trying to get them to stop putting a dirty scoop in their bags of spawn.

Tell them to at least sterilize the scoop.
Better to use small plastic spawn containers.

I mean, at the very least, right? It's so weird to see an operation of such scale making such gross mistakes. I still feel so novice to all of this and even I'm cringing at these photos and wasted opportunity.
Some of those bags look like my first plates.

I ft the same way when I heard that shroomsisay uses a spoodle to spoon spawn from a master bag to a bunch of receiving blocks...if you have clean spawn and a sterile stainless scoop it should be fine, but sanitized is obviously getting them nowhere.

you mixing up your species. First exotic run?
All this work done at same time. Gourmets are all clean. Fresh prints again triching out. Did a few transfer with a poke on triched plates and nothing yet which is promising. My transfers from those plates triched out too.
Bad picture but trich in bottom right. Rest gourmet or clean cube PANS from fridge.
