Purple Spore Prints

I live in Canton Ohio, I found a mushroom growing in a decomposing hay or straw stack at a horse racetrack, its cap was white and shaped like a rounded closing umbrella the gills were a dark black color, the stem was also white and hollow (i think it was kinda fragile) .. and the spore print was a dark purple color .. my friend took it home with him to check it out i didnt check for blue bruising because i didnt have time... oh.. its cap size is probably about 2-3 cm and it was about 3 inches tall it was growing next to a batch of another kind of mushroom.. think it could be psychedelic? Another question, whats a quick way to tell if a mushroom is an edible psychedelic... i cant find any great sources for the questions that i have

It's not active
most likely a coprinus species
I find them all the time in hay
Don't eat it... Inky caps... if you
go back you'll see why they call them
Inky caps....

There is no quick way to tell if a mushroom
species is active or not.. The only quick way
is to read all you can.. Hunt all you can....
compare, contrast... Do your homework...
After you have gained the knowledge... you will be able
to Identify mushrooms easier and quicker...

You should really check for blue bruising i dont think its coprinus...if the spore print was purple then i dought its coprinus...plus hollow stem dosnt sound like coprinus either...black gills...sounds good...dont eat yet...you should really get pics.

Mushrooms of the genus Coprinus DO have hollow stipes.
