Would you like to explain more about your memory problem? You'll get better advice if you give as much information as possible.
You may not even need to touch psychedelics, mushrooms like lions mane and cordyceps are very beneficial for cognition and your brain but really without knowing the issue it's hard to recommend anything.

But magic mushrooms are in no way addictive, in fact your more likely to give up smoking or other unhealthy habbits if you do anything like that in my opinion.

I suspect there are many here more experienced than me, I can give my impressions, and take it for what it's worth.
I don't trip much, but I have many times in the past.

>I am having a lot of trouble with my memory an was told that magic mushrooms can help
Sorry to hear that...
>But I have no idea what to buy or how much you would take
>I like the idea of micro dose
I have heard the goal with microdosing is to shoot for the amount that you can't tell.
About 1/10 gram dried for strong fresh cubensis? You can try more, but if you see halos around objects, or waves in your vision, step it down.
> But I am also frightened by the idea of a trip
> Any help would be great
I am too. We only have one mind. And every time I take psychedelics I get the fear that something bad will happen.
The good news with microdosing is that you don't trip.
>also is it addictive
No!
>does it change your personality
I feel like people who have tripped are more in touch with the natural world, and less tolerant of bullshit.
I'm not sure if there is a causal effect between psychedelics and personality change, or if it's people like that who trip in the first place.

Welcome to the Shroomery!

Unlike many other drugs, psilocybin doesn’t cause physical addiction or withdrawal symptoms. But mushrooms can be habit-forming, and if someone uses them often, they can develop a tolerance. This means that they will have to take increasingly larger amounts of the drug to get the same perceived effect.  This doesn't seem to effect the medicinal qualities though, only the 'trip' part that can be experienced on higher doses.

Especially with microdosing where you shouldn't notice any effects, there is nothing to be scared of.  A microdose is typically 1/20th - 1/10th of a normal dose that would cause you to trip, so it's don't be worried about an accidental trip.  Start small and slowly increase until you notice any changes in your visual perception, then back it off to the last amount that you didn't notice.  Most likely this will be .05-.2g per dose depending on your sensitivity.

There are no direct changes caused by having a full on trip (don't worry about becoming a hippy ), other than you will gain a perspective that can lead to greater understanding of yourself.

This Woman on YouTube takes a deep dive into the issue of personality change and psychedelics.
She also has other videos discussing microdosing for health.

You should cultivate mushrooms and it is a bit complicate, but in this way you can have your homemade stocks. You need about 0,1/0,2 grams to take a micro-dose. Usually homemade procedures give enough yield for a good trip, but using micro-doses you can go for around an year.

Unfortunately, I doubt that mushrooms would help with memory problems. Sorry.

There are many scientific studies about lions mane and cognitive function.
Some specifically show a decrease in amyloid plaques.

There are fewer studies with psilocybin. For obvious reasons.

Lion's Mane is what you want.  We just had a long discussion in another thread figuring out what the best supplement would be.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27430446

Oriveda seems to be the best brand.

If you want the technical stuff.  As we age we produce less of a hormone that helps us generate, maintain, and regenerate neurons.  This hormone is called nerve growth factor by western medicine.  Nerve growth factor does not cross the blood brain barrier.  However, certain alkaloids in the Lion's Mane mushroom do.  And they can promote the production of NGF within the brain.  (Note that neurons aren't just in the brain, they're actually all over our body, but the ones that help in the formation and retention of memories are in the brain so the Lion's Mane is important in your case.)
