Jst ripped a chunk out of some pre first flush trich. Cant wait to see where she pops up nxt. Maybe in Ape tub #2 where it smells nice and not at all like lemon flavored rolaids/tums. #2 is looking pretty suspect though.
Got 9 out of 14 melmak jars showing metabolites. Will spawn that shit to a tub on Tuesday anyway. Im almost certain that the jars not showing, will when i go to spawn them. Also got 10 Ape jars about 75% colonized. Cant wait to see what kinda shit has snuck into them.
Basically 100% of this last batch of 40 jars wound up contaminated. I pulled out every stop. I cut no corners. All equipment works jst as it should. No plates for this batch showed any contam. No LCs for this batch showed any signs of contamination. Im done.

getting sick of uneven pinsets, will overhead lighting and shelves fix this? for more evenly distrubted airflow and lighting
i've been super anal about my subs being both level and of equal depth across, so it's not that, and i mix really well before topdressing
I'm with you man. I think it's genetics and surface conditions. I'm trying to get a good clone of a nice cluster in search of an even canopy.
I stack my tubs to the ceiling, and have lights coming in the sides. Hasn't been an issue for me. You can see my setup in this video.
a few tubs that you see in that video

Well, in fairness, I get full canopies from Averies too, they're crazy. But I notice a distinct pattern when stacking my (Pasty style) tubs where one side fruits first. Interestingly, I think it's the side away from the light and fan, but I rotate them a lot so can't be sure. I get full canopies somewhat frequently (less than I used too), but the inconsistency is starting to drive me crazy. Obviously every grow won't be stellar, but I sure hope that building shelves for more even airflow and lighting helps (going to place a light above each shelf layer). I'm going to make my circulation fan more intense soon and hope that equalizes things a bit.
It seems like this happens regardless of genetics in my current set up. It's more like a coin toss right now.

I've had canopies from garbage leveled subs too, got some APEU right now that's looking good despite being a trash heap. But it's just rustling my jimmies, the bald spots fill in shortly after my initial harvest, but of course I'd rather harvest all at once. I suspect it's an airflow issue personally, and that by stacking my tub columns so close to one another, there's a difference in airflow going on that's affecting it. At any rate, building shelves will allow more convenient care, which won't hurt.
Also, your username and avatar always makes me want to drink some Anderson Valley brews lol

Munch, has it really not been an issue? You're regularly pulling full canopies with side lighting, across varieties? Do they grow straight up?
If so, how strong is your airflow and tub style? I'm thinking I need to turn up my fan system or make bigger holes.

Dialing in your grow environment is half the fun in this hobby. Keep making adjustments and you will find that sweet spot.

@ wah - Good luck. Try a bit of extra water in the sub for big ones. They're thirsty beasts!

Pic from last week. Test batch to dial in conditions on the off grid grow room came out alright, needed a bit more fresh air in the beginning but I got that worked out I think. Bout to cram it to the gills with lions mane and oysters
Those are only 2.5lb bags. Each cluster was around a 1/2lb so not too bad.

If you needed more fresh air in the beggining, you may very well need morr once you get it full of blocks. Whats your supp rate again? Havr you thought qbout changing it?

Nah I just didnt have a big enough fan in the beginning. Also needed a circulation fan which has been added.
I supp at a bit under 10% but I also use a tad more grain spawn than most at a 1/4 of a quart per bag.
Not gonna change anything really unless I need to as 1lb mush per 5lb block 1st flush is a decent be for edibles.

What are your c02 levels at? What do you use for a circulation fan?

Bro I'm not monitoring c02 levels haha. Again this facility is completely off grid so I dont have a bunch of monitors and fancy equipment.
I have a fresh air intake fan that is on 24/7 and a fan on a swivel to move the air around. The fresh air fan blows through a humidification tub with a 6 head pond fogger in it which, combined with the lights, uses up most of my available solar power.
I find that monitoring c02 and even monitoring humidity is a waste of time. Exact humidity numbers arent that useful. What matters are wet and dry cycles and constant air exchanges.
Again though exact numbers are not necessary when you know how to read what the mushrooms are telling you
