Hey I was walking in my yard and found these mushrooms growing next to the base of a big tree. The biggest one is about 5 inches long with a 1 inch cap and all the caps looks like they have slits going down them. The smallest one is has a 2 inch stem and a half inch cap. The stem feels waxy and the gills on the older ones look dark and wet when the smallest one looks grey. I dont know if these are active or not because I couldnt find any info on mushrooms that grow here this time of year. Sorry I dont have a pic for now I'll see if I can upload one soon.

I will be able to upload the picture slater but they are not the coprinus but they do have that kind of slits on them. The cap is tan in color and a little whiter for the smaller ones. The stems hollow and there was no veil. The mushrooms have no smell to them either.

The lines you see on the cap of a mushroom is called a striate margin. It is the lines of the gills showing through the cap in the light. It is visible at times when the shroom is slightly wet and some caps are clear enough to see through. And there are numerous species of Coprinus with many different color changes in them as all families of shrooms have these color changes in most of them.
That is called hygrophaous. when a cyanescens chestnut colored cap drieds to a straw-yellow color it is hygrophanous.
