Fav death metal?

I just recently started to listen to it and idk there is something about it, it feels like classical music to me lol? It provides a sense of catharsis in a way and it helps me focus (I have adhd). The band that I would rank as my favourite at the moment is blood incantation, does anyone have some recs?

Necrophagist is good. Very technical guitar work on their album 'onset of putrefaction'

I don't listen to a heap of death metal these days, but very much enjoying Obscura's Cosmogenesis album.

Malevolent rules; Retribution and Envenomed are my personal faves.
My all time favorite death metal/tech band is GORGUTS.
The Erosion of Sanity and Obscura all day.
Erosion (full album):
I'm obsessed with and an absolute sucker for that high-novelty sweet spot of technical metal bands circa 1991-1993, specifically on Roadrunner Records. Gorguts, Cynic, Pestilence, Atheist, Death obviously, etc.

Gorguts are definitely up there for me. One of the best live bands I've seen too. Obscura is a masterpiece. I also just love Colored Sands. Colin Marston did such a good job with the engineering. The title track is without doubt one of my favourite metal tracks ever.

Epic points for you, newcomer! Gorguts is top tier and they're still going strong. I agree; Marston did a fantastic job. I was lucky enough to see them live at Maryland Deathfest, WOW already a decade ago now. Luc signed my FWTH booklet after I helped move their merch in!
Luc Lemay is next level and a compositional genius. The metal community are beyond blessed to have this guy, especially still crushing it!
I was also very, very lucky enough to know Steeve Hurdle personally online for about two years leading up to his untimely passing. We'd speak almost daily on AIM. He answered every single nerdy Gorguts question I ever had, and then some.
My buddy and I are working on some Erosion covers for YouTube. They're sparse and sorely needed. We're beyond obsessed with the guitar work on that record.
Gorguts rules.

Personal favorites are Human and Individual Thought Patterns; you can't go wrong with any entry, though.

early carcass stuff (reek of putrefaction/symphonies of sickness) is pretty good. might be a bit extreme for some, and there's nothing like 'classical music' about it, though.

I would not classify death magnetic as death metal, although I think it's a nice Metallica album
The faceless is a great death metal band. But the lyrics are edgy and cringe (like all death metal)

Nice, some Gorguts fans! They are so incredibly good. Obscura is one of my fav albums, Coloured Sands is right up there. I haven't listened as much to their other ones. I saw them live in Germany in 2017, and they're the tightest, clearest death metal I've ever heard live. Bought a Obscura shirt off Luc Lemay.

Yay, a death metal thread! There's a lot of good stuff. Here are some favourite albums that come to mind.
Morbid Angel - Gateways to Annhilation
Cryptopsy - And Then You'll Beg/None So Vile/Tome of Suffering 1 + 2
Gorguts - Obscura/Coloured Sands
Suffocation - Blood Oath/Pierced From Within
Nile - Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-ka/Whom the Gods Detest

Oh yeah I used to be into their album Nespithe, and holy shit it's from 1993! I tried again recently though and the vocal style reminds me too much of burping...
