I've never heard of anyone actually using by injection via penis, though I wouldn't put it past some folks. I'd rather rub a few off and smoke a pea of opium lol.

Yes. There is a good vein in your dick. I personally was always afraid of infection. But I know people that will use a needle they found on the ground if that’s all they got. And people like that tend to not have good veins in arms. But no worries. I’m very much not going to go back there. I’ve come a long way in a year.
These MF sure are pretty tho.

Thanks for the help
At what stage will they be big enough to survive without icing anymore?
I think I'll apply ice if it's above 75f

Once they hit the lettuce stage they can stand hotter temps. Though they will love being watered with nice ice cold water during hotter months.

Would freezing water bottles and putting them over the chicken wire provide enough cooling or is the melting and cold water that drips needed?
I can water with cold water to keep it moist
It just seems easier to me to freeze and refreeze a bunch of bottles and put them on top than to freeze a bunch of ice.
Both are kinda a pain in the ass but bottles it's just in and out again

Well give it some critical thought for a sec, one method cools just the surface and maybe a little bellow the surface since there is only cold/heat transfer and no cold water entering the soil. The other method directly cools your plants and seeds by adding cold water to the substrate, normally I'll only use cold/ice water when germination needs to happen and the nightly temps are too warm.

Good point. I think I'm still going to utilize the bottles for easy freezing but water with ice cold water at the same time since there will be no melting.
It was 75-80 today and it's going to be almost 90 tomorrow but the nights are still pretty cool

A friend of mine has lived on the same farm for 40 years and is just now realizing he has huge poppy beds that his grandmother started a long time ago. He never realized what they were. Do these look like Papaver somniferum to you guys? They look right to me. The latex is the right color and tastes right to me.

That’s what was throwing me off as well. The little hairs all fall off as the pods mature and the pods look like normal smooth pods.
I might make a small tea with a couple pods and see how it goes

Thanks for the concern.
I know I shouldn’t.
I’ll wait for more opinions.
I’ve grown poppy for quite a few years now, but it’s always been known somniferum seeds.
As I said they look right to me and the latex is definitely the right color and taste, but the little hairs on the young ones is throwing me off a bit.
But ya I’ll wait for more opinion on the identification.

Not somniferum. You can tell by the leaves the most, although the flower doesn't look like somniferum either.

They look like Papaver orientale.

Thanks everyone.
P. orientale, or P. bracteatum Which appears to be a variation of orientale seems like a good match.

I forget who knows more than a thing or two about poppies around here...
...but does anyone know what the deal is with starting poppies late in the season/mid summer? I've heard something about them not flowering when deep past the summer solstice when the days are becoming shorter...?
I live where it is cool/moist enough for seeds to germinate still and all through out summer, picked up some seeds recently, but I've never sowed seed this late into the year (I usually do so late winter/early spring at the latest).
Beautiful flowers everyone!
