Nickoloxious said: Thankfully most of the replanted ones are still alive. The dense patches that they were separated from appear to slowly pick up the pace in terms of growth. Hopefully all of them can keep up. Also, It's nothing special but it's still the first one to flower. A Danish flag cultivar by the looks of it.

What a beauty! I do miss growing these for the way they just light up the whole bed. Very vibrant

This year was good for poppies. Main patch grew some massive plants, they are almost as tall as I and each plant got lots of pods.
Sorry but can't post a photo of it due to privacy reasons.

A couple of blooms from today;

   Looks like almost all of the transplanted ones have survived.

Plus some P.nudicaule.

Thanks!
These were all grown from second generation seeds. Which originated from cultivated varieties purchased from vendors last season. Though the poppies with the frilly burgundy flowers, Could possibly be hybrids of some of those varieties as they donβt resemble any of the ones originally purchased.

I noticed when I grew a strain called Purple Haze that they would have some of those frilly flowers, and then some would be dark purple and normal - exactly as you have. And the poppies themselves turned purple!
I have a bag full of seeds for next year, cant WAIT!

I found this pod with opium caked underneath the crown. Sometimes you can find small spots on the pod from insects biting. Though never seen anything like this. Not sure if it was done by insects or a deformity on the pods skin. It looked perfectly fine shape wise. So I sacrificed it to investigate inside & after opening I didnβt find any evidence of insects.

I always assumed it was due to excessive growth like an over stretching outer sheath that secumbs to pressure but that was purely assumption.
It was always an indicator of readiness and optimum latex production.
